$69 PBT vs $119 PBT?

What's the likely difference? Is "quality" any different? The LFS's can't really give me an explination.

I have 2 LFS's with $69 PBT's and 2 others with $100-120 PBT's. Size appears the same.

depends where they got them, what their buying price was, and the mark up they put on it. If the $69 pbt looked healthy i'd buy it.

x2
just find out where they got them and make sure they are not cyanide caught.

average markup is around 3-3.5 times wholesale. but i've seen stores that mark up significantly more than that, but will often come down if you haggle a little. Depends on the stores owner and what his profit margin is.

other than that, like has been said. locality has a lot to do with cost, as does which supplier the store gets its fish from. Sometimes the volume a store does can affect its costs from different suppliers, etc. the pricing game is a tricky business.

Some LFS may have bigger markups or could be from different locations. Maldives and African PBT's are usually more expensive, but much better quality. Compare prices of other fish to see if it is a general markup.

Picked up a PBT about a 14/15 months ago, it ended up not eating and dying within a week.

Picked up another about a year ago and she is still going strong.

Paid about 70.00 for both of them, both from local stores (2 different stores) neither of which I would put over the other on quality of livestock.

That is a gorgeous fish and great photo! I personally only buy from vendors that offer a 14 day guarantee.

Powder Blues either eats or never eats when caught. Thats why I always have the LFS feed them before I buy it. If it eats then thats a major hurdle you will face. Also make sure its not skinny as well
