!!!!!6ft 125g 290g sumps "build" thread!!!!!

Thanks.
-Hes been in less than a week. Thats why i said keep ur fingers crossed hah. So far he doesnt pay any attention to lps at all or even zoas hes hasnt picked on any sps other than my plume rock (xmas rock) he isnt mean to them just ever once in a while he nips and scoots away. He loves sponges/nori/anything frozen/ and flakes. Hes has to try to get a turn at the nori on the clip with my tangs and my confused clown fish (my clowns rough it up w my tangs for nori hahah) the butterfly is always picking at rocks not corals.

-My canopy is weather protected i used a rather good stain and poly with two coats each. Its satin i hate the wet look on wood.

-The skimmer is a kent marine nautilus 5 footer modded w beckett and a mag18 pump

good job with the hood and skimmer. It sounds like the jury is still out on the Heniochus. Nice and quick build thread here- how did you go about getting help/gathering information for your build?
It certainly doesn't look like an aquarium put together by someone "wet behind the ears"....

Thanks, yeah the hood I love it is perfect other than i still do not have a closing setup on it so it doesnt close hard. The skimmer pulls crazy stuff my basement reeks of skimmate.

Walter (captain7359) did all of the drilling ,the closed loop manifold, the overflow is a modded coast to coast that Walter made WHICH IS SWEEEET, The overflow is silent and fail safe from the Bean animal site. The rest is all me reading and guessing. Its amazing what a library card and buying books mags and the net can do to a guy in 2.5 years. I also learned alot from Stephen THE OC. For the past 4 years ive done nothing but fish tanks- work -fish tanks and love my girl.

Everyone is wet behind the ears if you ask me their is always something new to learn.

Oh yeah and I use to be a member on other sites for two years and I have been lurking on Reef Central with out a account for 2 years looking at it every day I just never made an account because I just had that 37g tank. But when I set up my 6footer I finally figured I had something to show so I made an account to share.

So I got alot of info thanks to RC

I was just in it for the pizza and cheap pvc glue high :wildone:

Seriously though, Brandon put a ton of thought into this setup and did a great job with the tanks plus it was a good time working with him.

Yeah pizza beers n pvc cleaner/glue in a basement......"u were suppose to glue that to the other side....(slowmo) man i think the glue is getting to us".

This set up is based on a display tank cramed with fish but that will still have fast coral growth. Its already showing my fish are super healthy/active my corals are all happy and growing fast i already have great growth . When i started the tank up i fragged one polyp of my blue/purple+red tort onto a standard frag plug it is 90% covered and has 17 polyps at 1/2inch tall!

I currentldy have the two tangs, two butterfly fish, two mandarins, two firefish, two clowns, a sixline wrasse and i plan on adding a handfull of nano sized fish mabey some small schooling fish, a sleeper gobie and a mystery wrasse.

The look on my family members faces when they finally get that the basement sumps feed the display is priceless.

Brandon...you should be EXTREMELY proud of this set up. I LOVE the sleeper goby. they look amazing under moonlights, even actinics - that blue streak on the face just POPS! Question? Where did you find the mangroves? I've been looking for some for the 90g and the 120g.

YPGM, btw.

thank you SO much for sharing and for the enthusiasm!

Thanks guys.

Yeah the aleeper goby ive always loved just never had a big enough tank for one esp not two.

I got the mangroves off of ebay dirt cheap.
