7 stage reverse osmosis

Looks like its overpriced and covered in useless addons.

There is no need for a UV on a RO filter. None.

Here is what you need.

Micron filter 5 micron(some times two, a 10 micron and a 2 micron)
Carbon filter
RO membrane

That is all you need.

Optional extras that I recommend.
DI section to polish the last bits and cover you when the membrane is starting to get old.
Shutoff valve and float switch to shut the unit off when your fresh water tank/bucket is full.
Dual TDS meter to monitor your output water quality and to see if your membrane needs to be replaced.
Booster pump if your water pressure is below 60 psi. It just makes the water faster.

Thats it. I spend less than $200 on everything above years ago on ebay and all Ive done is change filters. There is no need for anything else. That pressure tank and faucet are for drinking water. And if you use a DI, you should NEVER drink the water.

How about this one?

I like Spectrapure with inline TDS monitor. It is really great and easy way to check function of the system. Pressure monitor also is great to have, even if it is not always needed. I also like the clear filter housing so I can see if it is time to change the filter. IMO, DI post filter is not needed. Post RO in my system TDS is about 4 ppm. The DI decreased it down to 0. Not needed in my opinion due to the cost of the DI resin. I agree that the Home Depot 7 stage system is a bunch of BS, espeically the bit they added about alkalized the water will decrease fluctuation of body pH. That statement stinks to heaven.

Spectrapure seems the way to go. Any idea on this though?
