7091 controller problem?

Roger,
I have an old 6100 stream being run by a 7091 controller. During normal operation, when the high flow and low flow lights should alternate, only one of them actually lights. When it goes out, the other light does not light up like it should. The Stream itself seems to be pushing just a steady flow with no variation. When I push the "feed mode" button, the Stream is off for half the time then pushes water out the other half (much like only half of the controller is operating in feed mode), in an alternating fashion. The Stream itself seems to be pushing water as normal. I'm wondering if you've ever seen this before and what you think my problems is. I'm leaning towards some type of a controller problem but wanted to check in with you first. Thanks for the help!

I would agree it is likely a controller problem, but not one I have seen before. Most single controller problems stem from water entering at the foodtimer button or photocell connection and causing a short. To open the controller and check for this, you just undo the two screws in the back and use a screwdriver to pry up the knobs, they just pop out. It is a lot easier to reassemble if you turn all the knobs completely clockwise or counterclockwise so they are easy to line up for reassembly.

Sorry for my late response, I've been out of town. Thanks for the response. When I open the controller, am I just looking for water intrusion as evidence of a short? And do you think my best option is to purchase a new controller or do you think this could be repairable? Perhaps this is the excuse I need to upgrade to the newer 6105 Stream!

The 7091 can run a 6105, I would check 2 things, first, the DIN cable has 5 wires, 2 should be cut off, 3 soldered to the board.

I would look for any salt crystals, green or brown stains (corrosion) or signs of water (salty/ hazy film).

Roger you pretty much nailed it. I had definite signs of corrosion on the circuit card. Some spots were pretty extensive, probably bad enough that I don't want to hook it up again. I just placed on order with BRS for a replacement. Thanks for the help. I thought i had it in a pretty good spot with respect to any water getting in. Lesson learned about where to locate it better, although it did last me several years. Thanks for the help.
