7091 single controller broken

Roger,

My 7091 single controller stopped working. When I leave it in the pump stops working. When I pull it out the pump will run. The "pump on" light doesn't come on anymore either. No water has hit it since it is mounted outside of the tank.

How do I get it fixed ?

Sounds like the foodtimer button is stuck. You can send it to me or open it and wiggle the button to free it up. To open it pry off the knobs with a slotted screwdirver and undo the two screws in the back.

I had to take my single controller apart once to fix the food timer. The button on mine would stick against the cover. All I did to fix it was take a debur knife and enlarge the hole where the food timer button sticks through. That way it would not rub the cover anymore....

The cable on Kasei's had a break in it, i had to replace the cable. It is going back out today.

Roger,

I came home tonight to find the Stream not running again. When I moved the controller the stream started to work again. I took the cover off of the controller and the wires that are soldered to the board has a short on it. The yellow wire is shorted against the shielded part of the insulation above the solder point.

So what I am saying is the yellow wires insulation 1/2" above the solder point on the board is bare inside the cut-off insulation where the 3 wires come out and is shorting out the controller.

Also the wire is shorter somehow and no longer reaches where I used to mount it inside my cabinet ? Are all of the new wires shorter now ? What should I do ?

I didn't cut the wire any shorter than how it was delivered, it is possible the new cable is a bit shorter. I know the one wire the insulation melted slightly when i was soldering it but I hadn't noticed it was shorting or capable of shorting. I can send you a call tag and fix that up.

If I resolder it myself will I void the warranty ?

No, do you have a fine tip soldering iron? The trick is to have a very hot, very fine tip. When i soldered it I lingered too long because I had a bead run onto a neighboring component, I didn't know I had melted the insulation though.

It is fixed. Thnaks for all of your help. Put me on the list for the new 6055 Streams. I need 2 and wouldn't mind being a guinea pig tester
