can I use the controller 7096 with just one 6105 ? Will it be able to create wave for a 5 ft by 2 ft by 2ft tank? thanks

You can use it by itself. You will not be able to get a wave with a single pump, was well as the 6105 is not the best choice for the rapid on offs it would require. Your best bet is the 6212 Wavebox or buying the wavebox pump and controller and then fabricating a proper enclosure

The wavebox has a higher volume pump and adds the force of displacement, on wavebox mode a 6105 will click and as Shawn said, if it produces a wave it will be quite small. It would be best used for directional flow and either a wavebox or a pair of 6261's should be used for a wave, if you are not in a hurry, in the next couple months 6261 will be replaced by 6265 in the wavebox and as a seperate pump.
