720 Gal SPS tank with Full LED lights - BB

I literally said "Holy Cow!" out loud when I saw some of the pictures on page 8. Great work! Happy reefing.

Well

After four months let tell my good and bad shots on this project:

First The goods:

1) The Siporax: This is awesome. Holding over 35 fish and lots of corals without ANY issues until now.
2) The Hydra52: Great light, every possuble combination, great control and lots of power. Running 19 fixtures with Zero issues.
3) The acrylic: Yes, it scratches but the transparency is unbelievable.
4) The BBK Supermarin: NOthing to say but Fenomenal.

Now the Bads:

1) The Siporax BOXES: Yeah, I have made large boxes with 50 liters each. So, it's huge and heavy when I have to wash them. I'll make smaller ones soon.

2) The overflow boxes are too shallow. There is not enough gravity so the smallest change on water movement makes the level on the boxes rise or lower.

3) The worst of all: The Bottom Silicon.

Let me explain this:

The silicon on the bottom IS AWESOME. It's one of my BEST ideas BUT, I should have made it with AT LEAST 5mm thick. Mine was "painted" over the acrylic and it does not hold anymore. So i had to put some sand (gravel to be true) because I don't like pure glass bottom.

The good news is that After 15 days it's all OK, no algae and no parameter shift.

Here there are some new pictures. Hope you guys enjoy.

Thank you for this information Roberto, I just received my box of 24 silicone tubes. I was planing to put 1/8" thick (3mm). But my tank is in glass so it should adhere well, do you think I will be good with 3mm?

By the way, your tank is fantastic!!!

This is very nice. You spent some money on this setup. When I live there, I priced out what a tank would cost me. They wanted 65000 rias for a 300 gallon setup. But then agian it could of just been the price for a greengo.

Awesome tank man! I have one question, I noticed you have wrasse in there, do you have any find sand for him to burrow/sleep in?

Hi,
I´m running a small 40g Nanon tank with 2L of Siporax and I´m struggeling wit Nitrate Issues at the moment. I had it tested with 0.00 No3 and I´m feeding my fishes three times a day. Loving it so far. In a few weeks I´m going to start a 250g tank and I´m sure I´m going to run it with Sipoax too.
You said you´re going to make smaller boxes to wash them.
When do you start to clean them and how?
Do you wash them with salt water so that they don´t lose their bacteria or with Rodi water ?

Great ! Siporax Is really a nice and elegant solution. I just love it.

Yes, I'll make smaller boxes because mine is too heavy to wash.

I Always wash them on salt water (from the water changes) and NEVER let it dry. NEVER EVER !!

I wash mine every 3 months because as I align them one over another, just the top and the bottom ones gets dirty so I empty my skimmer place, put one box at a time and wash it with a strong pump.

Seems to work for me because I have never get ANY NO3 and PO4 ever since the beginning.

Best of luck with your setup and send me a link when it's done so I can see.

I'll probably move to USA next year and I hope to see you guys on USA ground.

Have a nice day.

Yes I have two wrasses and they sleep well without sand (on the rocks).

Now i have some gravel and they just burrow in there like sand.

Regards and thanks for the kind words.
