Thank you. You're certainly welcome to visit and check it out anytime.. I'm only at the other end of 62/412 from you, then 30 minutes south.
I had a 48" x 133" x 6" tall cement pad poured today, that will accomodate the new 20k Generac as well as a new pair of 3-ton and 5-ton Heat Pumps (currently under-powered w/ 1.5 & 3 ton). If all goes as planned (and I've already prayed and payed for), all 3 units will have arrived and be installed by the end of next week.
BTW: I traded my portable 8250w Generator for the cement work that was done today for the new Generac... How ironic (and cool) is that..?

Following along as well, Don't know if I would have sacrificed my garage space but everything fits perfect for you. I like the shots from inside the house, it's sitting in the right spot and seems like it fits nicely. I feel that the granite boarder around the tank is a good touch.
Keep it up and can't wait to see it full of corals.

Hey, as long as I have a work bench and a place for my tools and motorcycles, then that's all the garage space that I need!
Today I'll finish up plumbing in the "other side" of the system with the double-stacks, sump, skimmer, UV, reactors and chiller. This should all go pretty quick, with the exception being the UV since I haven't got a clue as to where I'm going to put it yet.

It would appear that I f'd up majorly yesterday with the dimensions of the slab that I had poured. I didn't calculate for adequate space between the condensing units based upon the size of the new 36" units, I figured everything for the existing smaller 24" units that are sitting right there, so I have to have the guys come back out to add another 24" to the length so I can have 18" between units instead of the 6" that I would be stuck with as it stands. This will end up being a $300-400 mistake!

I ordered #900 rock this morning!!!
The double-stacked tanks do not yet have water in them, but I figured rather than wasting saltwater when I add the rock, I would just let the natural displacement from the display fill the sump to the top and then turn on the 2nd PanWorld pump to fill the holding tanks.
The most important thing for me was to get the Chiller and Skimmer operational so that the water would be and the proper temp and cleared enough to be able to see to place the rock.
Also, ignore the blue painters tape... I was touching the back and sides up after nicking the paint while plumbing the system together.

just a question...
it looks like your two side tanks are plumbed to the main tank.
there are two things that can happen. on is you have less equipment to worry about and with more water volume you will have a more stable tank.
the second is you wont necessarily have a QT/grow out sepperate from the main tank.
so just wondering if that is a concern of yours, or not really?
i know that the larger tank owners have been around the block a few times so they know how to treat everything that comes in and prevent any blowups for say.
what is your opinion on this?

One huge connected system is not even the slightest concern for me. The doubles are strictly for coral holding & growout. There will be a 55g fish QT system along the back wall, that obviously will not be connected to anything.
FWIW: The skimmer (Octopus FDNW-400) had only been running about an hour when I took these pics. There has been a lot of Nitrifying bacteria added over the past week, so alot has actually been happening to the system in regards to the cycle.

ok 2 questions cuase i looked at each page for pics since im lazy:
on page 5 what happened to the guys finger almost severing it and 11 stiches and whyd you go with black paint? ive heard that more people like blue. whats the "benefits" of black v. blue in your opinion? anyways great build and its sad seeing a nice bike look like scrap metal.

1) It healed!
2) Actually, far more prefer black over blue, because blue shows every little bit of algae and discoloration as well as detracts from the rest of the system. Black shows nothing but the livestock that is inside the tank.

My buddy and I placed #700 pounds of rock over the last 2 days...
Also, my chiller has knocked the temps down from 90* to 75*, so I now know for FACT that a 1/2hp chiller can handle a 1200g system, despite what everyone says! The water is greenish due to the heat and the bacteria bloom. Once the chiller brought down the temp and the skimmer was turned on, it began to clear up a bit. I also now have the 120w UV turned on and will be installing the O3 today which will help a lot more.
