I need a light for a 75 gal aquarium. Not forsure how much light i need. I know I am not going to spend the money for a real nice light right now because I want to start slow.

What would be a good light for soft corals on a 75 gal aquarium?

for soft corals you can go with a 4 bulb T5HO unit, or a dual 175 or 250 watt MH those would be decent options to start with.

A 4 bulb T-5 would work well.

A 4 bulb T5 would work, just like everyone has stated.

I would look into the Tek from Reefgeek. You would want the 4x54w version.

Go with a good light now or pay for it later. You can spend $350 today and have a light fixture that will last you quite a while. The Tek would even allow you to move into LPS and some SPS in the future.

Or you can spend $150 today and spend the $350 in six months. You will always regret skimping out on something like lighting. It is one thing you can't afford to skimp on in this hobby. Look around locally for some used fixtures. You can always find a good deal if you are patient enough.

But it is up to you. Would you rather spend $350 or $500+?

The 4x54watt Tek is a little under $400 with bulbs. The ATI Powermodule is a little over 500 for the same fixture. Any big difference beween these 2? Is it worth spending the extra on the ATI?

What bulbs would you recommend?

4-Bulb combination

* 1 ATI Blue Plus
* 1 ATI Aquablue Special
* 1 ATI Purple Plus
* 1 ATI Blue plus

Big difference between the two. The ATIs are much better fixtures. Go with the sunpower though, not the powermodule. Same performance and the sunpower is cheaper.

Be ready to hang the ATI though. There are no legs for them. They must be hung. The ATI will allow you to keep anything you want. So when you get into SPS down the road, you are ready to go.

For four bulbs go with, 2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 KZ New Generation and 1 ATI Purple Plus.
