75 gal upgrade

Put salt in and a few rocks and sails... now got to let it cycle a little and bring everything else over... I got a few pics comming.

decided not to go w/ a trash can for r/o storage. I found some new 55 gal poly Food Grade Drums for cheap which will work really good... they are sealed w/ bulkhead fittings for easy access to fresh water.

Well it has been a while sience I have posted. Lots of things have happened... bad was my tank craked and lost hippo tang to ick in the transfer from cracked tank (i guess too much stress). Good news is I now have a 90 gal oceanic RR with 18 gal fuge and 20 gal sump. Looks much better and functions better to... no micro bubbles ;)... hope to get some pics tonight.

Well that's what you call bad news ... good news :)

Why do you think you tank cracked?

Yea, what cracked it? What brand was the tank? I am upgrading to a 90 gallon. Debating between AGA and Oceanic.

I am not really sure what cracked it... I cant rule out the stand but I cant see how it did... it touched everywhere and was almost perfectly level. It was a 75 gal oceanview and I now have a 90 gal oceanic which I really like.
Just to make sure it was not the stand I put a piece of 3/4" birch on the top to make sure it will not happen again... hopefully. I dont know about the AGA but I really like my oceanic. Best of all the glass does not bow at all like my other tank... which may be a reason for the crack.

gonna get some pics of the new tank and livestock tonight!!

Here are a couple pics (click to enlarge)... really dont look to good.. next investment will be a good camera

That looks like red hair algae in with the cheato. Becareful it will take over everything. Mexican Turbo snails love to eat though.

Keith

that red wasnt there when I got it... its actually not that red only in the picture... that is why I think it is dieback

well... i think that is what it is... but if it is red hair algae i got a few turbo snails in my display I can put in there to take care of it... thanks for the input

The 77 gallon is still in the garage being fresh water tested. Works great, I have a similar one on my 29 gallon and its been doing great for over a year now.

Have Rotozip will cut glass:D

I plan on trading tanks first week of April.

Keith

good luck on the tank trade... i just did it (one time not because I wanted to ... cracked tank)... I will have to keep up w/ ur thread and see how things go.

Nice setup rg. I like the fuge next to the sump. Nice job overall. Keep up the full tank shots too. :)

thanks mymonkey... I hope to get a better camera. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good camera that is not too expensive...

Yor glass was bowing on a 75? I'd take that up with Oceanic, that should not happed.

Oceanview? Is that Oceanic? I think the bowing may have been a sign of trouble. At any rate, glad to see things shaping up.

it was an oceanview which is a mississippi made tank... about 2/3 the price of an oceanic. I tried saving money on the tank and I ended up spending more anyway with much more headach. I am waiting to see if they are going to replace it. If they do I will try to find a place to set it up for quaraintine or just sell it for cheap with my old sump. i would like to have a q-tank but i just dont think i will find a place for it
