On my 72 I have a 2 tube overflow going through a mag 12. There are two returns, similar to the way you have drawn up. I can barely feel the flow out of the returns. I think the pipes are 3/4".
I would definitely go with 2 tubes for protection. I've had one tube fail many times. My dad seems to have problems with his frequently.
I'm curious about the last baffle in your sump before you get to the pump. The sump on my 90 is the same way. If the water gets low enough that it drops down over that baffle I have a ton of bubbles in the display. Also, is the water going under the baffle before that one? It's not in your image. If it is, that is how my last baffle in my 72 sump is and I never have a bubble problem in that tank. So I would recommend taking that last baffle out. You may want to get other opinions first though as I'm no sump expert.
