75 gallon upgrade

Got my 75 gallon tank and stand today, now trying to decide on the overflow. Thinking of going with the 1500gph gla$$holes box. Also a panworld external pump. Any suggestions to any alternatives?

I'm running an Iwaki and like it. it uses less energy and is quite. but I agree check the boards for deals.

Got the inner seal completely cut, scraped, cleaned out. Tank is taped off, looks like this weekend I will be putting fresh silicone, and placing the order for my overflow! Starting to get excited about the upgrade.

All taped off, put in silicone, now time to let it dry for a few days to water test.

Well got bored this weekend, decided to install the over flow. Pump should arrive early this week. These are drilling and installing.

Have not really posted any progress for last couple months.uploadfromtaptalk1327256440863.jpg

Just siliconed in the last baffle.

Last week I completed the plumbing and installed my Christmas pump from Santa. uploadfromtaptalk1327256611120.jpg

Now time to let the silicone dry till next weekend and do a test run.

It's a blueline 40 x, its also plumbed to run both of my BRS reactors off of the manifold. Should have plenty of flow.

Ok so it's been awhile since I have posted on my build. Stand has been overhauled and added some extra 2x4 bracing for my own comfort. Added a reef octopus xp-1000sss cone skimmer, 2 brs deluxe reactors, painted sump, and stand, and back of tank finally. Today I added 60lbs of caribsea aragonite sugar sized sand, and filled with rodi and salt. It's time to watch it cycle. Still have yet to build the canopy. Will be adding 24 more royal blue LEDs to the current DIY fixture I'm using on my current breeder.

And so it begins! I like the idea of using en external pump, it will help with heat issues, and like you are doing, you can run multiple different pieces of equipment by simply building a manifold. I will be tagging along and cant wait to see the LED lights when you get them completed.

Ok so after 24 hours my filter socks are completely saturated with the floating sand debris. Wondering if I made a sub par decision on the sugar sized aragonite sand..... Any input here is very welcome! Should I just keep cleaning the socks and stir the tank to catch all the micro fine particles, or pull it, or add something else to it. I do like the look of it from what I could see this morning before I left for work. Just wondering of this will be a continuous problem or will it eventually settle. This tank is going to have a lot of flow is my concern.

How far into the tank build are you? If your still in the cycle stages just add some medium sized aragonite on top of the sugar sized but make sure and wash it first with ro/di water.

Well added 30lb more aragonite and some clarity that I won at membership drive. Here is what it looked like this morning!
