Arconom,

Im also running a small fish load in my 120. I set it up BB, not sure about the corals I was going to keep. BUt let me tell you.... I got 2 Acro frags and I am hooked. Im gonna have mostly SPS with some LPS here and there...probably some Shrooms and Zoa's as well but not many.

Since you put so much time and effort into your circulation on this tank,...what type of circ will you have on your 120?

1st option

Well I will have 2 Closed Loop Systems. The one will be over the tank like yours. This will have a very good pressure rated pump to run 2 Educaters for the bottom.

My Second CL will be drilled this will handle Mid section of my tank.

I will have 2 Streams the 1 I have now and another 6100

2nd option

Over the top CL and 3 Tunzes

3rd Option

2 Over the top CLs and 3 Tunzes

Basically I hate having my tank drilled I know I can get the flow with over the top CL and Tunzes.

In your case I would get 2 more Seios. You have 2 Seios already and 1 Tunze.

Plus you have your over the top CL which is awesome.

The first Seio will do a horizontal stream from left to right basically you have no Horizontal flow in your tank. Well you do but you have that 1 Tunze right in the middle on the back wall.

When those SPS come you want some more Mid section flow. But, again this isn't a issue right now with you.

BTW I use the Aqualifter pump also.

Arconom,
I appreciate your experiances with various skimmers and your willingness to share them with us. I'm planning on having a moderate fish load for the system, (6-7), and most of them will reach a max size of 3 inches.
The cost between the AP701 and the AP851, is pretty neglible....so definately a possibility. According to the PDF on Deltec's website re: flow through rates of their skimmers, I notice a couple of things...
1...they dont list the AP701 or the AP851
2...their skimmer ratings were more conservative.
3... Deltec reccomends a rather slow flow through rate for their skimmers.

The fact that their skimmer ratings were more conservative kind of leans me towards the larger skimmers...

How much water are you putting through your skimmer? What are you feeding it with?

Nick

Wow. Im impressed at your description of my setup! Thanks!
I do have two Punductors I was going to place on my CL.
In addition, however I have my sump return spraybar that runs along the bottom, spraying upward. I just hate to have more visible hardware, ya know? One thing I recently started thinking about is changing my CL a bit and adding a Dart rather than the Iwaki. I hardly have any accumulation of detritus in my display...it was all ending up in my sump so I added the Filter sock.

Thanks again!

So when are you going for the 120? I love mine...the dimesnsions are fantastic!

I forgot what I'm putting in as far as Flow rate. I know it's exactly where it should be. It's been so long since I dialed it in. I'm using a small Mag Drive pump again I forgot which model:(

I can get all that info this week for you. Actually I would head over to the Deltec Forum section just ask your question and Doug will answer.

Sindjin

If you use the Dart remember it's just for flow. Don't plan on using the penducter on it.

Also you might be better off with the Iwaki depending on diameter of the pipe on your CL over top. It might decrease the flow alot.

Also in the news this week.

I plan on making a towering structure on the leftside of my tank. I will be using Aquamend and pieces of Liverock.

I want a small platform with 2 branches coming off it. It will fill in the section nicely. I will be documenting it. So stay tuned.

I took my TLF reactor off since I was doing my weekedend cleaning today and tried to add more ROWA to the reactor. I noticed some ROWA on the bottom of the Reactor so I emptied it out and it made a big mess. I ended up using some new ROWA since I couldn't scoop the 1-2 week old ROWA I had in it before. I would say I have about 3 tablespoon in it now. I ran it with water until it was clean and it is now back online.

I'm hoping my new frags will start to encrust in the next few weeks. Then I know all of them will make it.

I had a Reef Club meeting on Saturday and my Reefer Buddy Ross Hooked me up with a incredible frag of a aqua blue stag.

I never liked stags until I went to his house and was staring at his stag in his tank. It is aswesome looking in his tank. When I was last over there I didn't tell him I liked it alot because I knew he would frag it. And I didn't want him to.

He showed up to our meeting with a small box of frags. He was giving all types of coral frags from his tank away.

He walked up to me and asked me if I wanted a frag. I said sure but what is it. He told me which coral it was. It was the one I loved. The stag!!!!!

Why couldn't you clean out the phosban reactor? I hold mine over the sink and use the sprayer attachment to blast out anything at the very base. I do this after I've already opened it up and emptied all I can into the trash.

Congrats on the frag. That's so cool!

Finally finished all 26 pages! Great thread, tons of useful info. Just got a used 75 and am in the process of building the canopy and finishing the stand, still in the design stages for sump, plumbing etc., and this thread has anserwed most of the questions that I have had so far. Thanks to all!

One question- Any in sump returns pumps that don't clog? Noticed that the ones recomended were external.

I'm not sure of in sump pumps that won't clog. Is also depends on what clogs you mean. Theres different kinds of clogs some snail shells, pieces of LR rubble almost anything that can get in the pump.

Then there is pump siezing due to Calc and alk levels.

Once my new sump is done I will be going with a good external Pressure rated pump.

For your return or closed loop pump?

You should look into the Pan World 150PS or 200PS.

Only downside to the 200PS is it uses 290w when the 150PS uses 180w. The 200PS does 1700gph+- and the 150PS does 1149 or something like that.

On the 120 I'm building (almost completed) my return is a Pan World 150PS powering 2 eductors. I had a long talk with Ken @ KTH Sales about my setup and he said that pump would more then power 2 eductors. Basically putting in 5-8gpm and getting out 25-40gpm out per eductor.

Your running XM's aren't you? I can't remember, either those or the Reeflux.

Current Tanks: 75 Gal Barebottom, 20 Gal Sump,2x250 MH,XM-10k,Deltec APF600 Skimmer,Deltec PF509 Calcium Reactor,Deltec KM500 Kalk Reactor,CL-using ReeFlo Dart,Tunze Stream 6100 w/controller

If his sig is up to date then he is running 2x250 MH,XM-10k...
