man that is a killer sump! things are looking incredible. i cant believe all the updates since i last checked this out. It took me almost 2 hours to read/look at pics/follow links.

cant wait to see that super-sump in place :)

I have been slacking on updates but will take care of that tonight or tommorrow.

I'm in the process of planning out a table for my new sump and a frag tank hooked up to my Main tank.

I also have some new corals in my tank.

My calcium reactor works awesome!!! I only have to run it about 10 hours a day.

Ok no pictures but I will post some in 20 minutes:)

Ok NEWS--------------NEWS------------------------NEWS------------------

Well in the news lately I have been working on a few projects with my brother-inlaw.

Yes, the same one who did all of my plumbing.

Well you all know I got that Uber!!!! Sump from Melev, so this weekend was time to build a stand, my father is on sump stand duty

While me and my Bro-inlaw were on Frag tank stand duty. YES I said it I'm in the process of setting up a Frag Tank. It will be a 40gal breeder with a pendent (When I find a nice one for sale for a good price)

The main purpose for the frag tank is for trading and building up my collection of corals. I have been giving our club members frags of Monti digi that I grew out on the bottom of my tank. It really made the tank look bad. All the digi's were littered on the floor of the tank.

I would like to continue to prop out Different colored Digi's for new club members.

Also I will be building up a collection of mainly Rare corals for myself and for trade. At the same time average corals also.

---(Don't forget my plans for the 120gal in the future:) )----

As it is now my Frag tank stand is done!!! But I would like to paint the stand.

I remember talking to Travis a about water proof paint from Aquatic-ECO

Is it worth it to spend this much money? Or can I find a product that does the same thing for cheaper?

I know:)

Here we go.

Lookin' good arconom. Is it worth the extra money for the sweetwater epoxy paint? I guess that is up to you. I can personally say it is the most durable paint I've every used. I used it on my internal plumbing. It has held up just fine on the rigid pvc but did flake off of the spa flex over time. I also used it on my canopy and the catwalk behind my tank. The catwalk takes a lot of abuse and still looks like it was just painted yestereday.

A cheaper alternative would be to prime with a couple coats of Killz and then paint with a couple coats of Rustoleum. That combination should give you a nice waterproof and durable finish.

I would use the Sweetwater paint if it was going on something that might find its way in the tank or was definately going to be in the tank. For a stand.......I'd go with Travis' suggestion or even pick a paint you like and then coat it with a poly urethane. I stained the wood on my stand and placed 3 coats of Helmsman Satin Spar-Urethane over it.....granted its only been a year...but ZERO issues.

Check out home depot for it.

Also, keep in mind, youll most likely pay more for something that has both paint and weather sealant in one can. Buying two separate products to use, probably cheaper.

Whats Killz? Also they have a paint on Rustoleum?

I really don't like the stain look.

Killz is a brand of primer that is great for providing a water resistant finish. I'm not familiar with stains, but yes, Rustoleum is a paint. The black rustoleum that I used on my the plywood that my sump rests on looks just like the epoxy I used on my catwalk and canopy.

One thing about the Sweetwater Epoxy.... You need to use it all in a short amount of time. After about 2-3 weeks, the unused portion in the can turned to a brick.

Ok guys I have some questions..

I posted this in another section but I want all of your input. I will go into more detail but here is what I wrote.

I ask this question since I have a BB tank. No fish to feed:) I run a all SPS system. 110x Water turnover

I add no additives or food. I use a calcium reactor and a Kalk reactor. Calc 420-430 ALK-8.3. 0 Phosphate on the Deltec test kit. MH 2x250 XMs

I have read it all and am to some degree,a believer that all SPS need to grow is Light, alk, calc and mag and other water requirements that are supplied by water changes and in the salt mix.

Since I don't have fish and don't feed the tank anything I really don't know if my tank would benefit from some type of food.

Basically a Typical person runs a tank with some fish. The excess food that the fish don't eat may or may not get eaten by the corals? This may or may not contribute to the color and growth of SPS corals?

In my situation since I have no fish, no food goes in the tank.

In a Typical tank people who believe SPS don't eat also don't feed there corals intentionally but is the excess food helping there corals grow and give them more color?

From what I have read DTs are not eaten by SPS.

After reading some of the new "Reef Aquarium Vol 3" book. I see on page 575 it is mentioned that

"Seriatopora,ACROPORA, and Pocillopora feed on Zooplankton (copepods, rotifers, ciliates) or pulvarized feed"

Yup:) I have been reading that thread. I was surprised to see in your thread and that thread that your not happy with your colors. I wish I had colors like you guys "Travis also". Plus you have fish and feed.

Well thats it guys!!!!! After reading and reading, I have seen one thing that holds true. All of the TOTMs and 99% who have beautiful corals have fish.

Why did I never get fish and why am I so against them?? Algae!!! Plan and simple.

I am so excited to feed the tank I went out to dinner and after went to Petco and bought all the wrong foods and still my SPS put out polyps that were insanely long. My purple mille put out 1" to 1 1/2" polyps.

Well that is it I'm getting fish this week or next week!!!

Most people don't intentionally feed there coral but a by product of having fish is excess waste and scrap food.

I don't know what to believe.

I really would like to know what SPS defiantly eat? I know from reading that alot of food is not eaten by SPS but there are foods tha they do eat.
