Finally getting around to posting my build thread!

Started by putting in new floors.

Next, sand, water, and two powerheads.

Live rock added.

Here's what it looked like the next day after having the live rock in it.

The lady had to have a "nemo" and we were newbies, ended up with a false perc.

Then I started to build my new stand

At the same time I designed a new sump, adding the baffles now. (Used 1/4" glass - highly recommend it over the acrylic I used before)

I didn't like how uneven the stain was on the birch plywood...
IMG_0242.JPG

So I ended up painting it with the rustoleum semi-gloss paint

I also thought I broke my VHO lighting and needed something fast... ended up with a 48" PC fixture

Hello!
I very much like your tank setup in your room and your rock stack. Others may (possibly) disagree, but I would recommend against your protopolypalythoa. In my system I find they are near impossible to eliminate when they spread and as my system matures I wish more and more that they had never been introduced. Just my $.02.

Very nice build thread but I would love to see your DIY LED light in its own thread and explained in detail. JMHO

looks great! nice diy stand, looks much cleaner than the older one, looks like you did an awesome job on the floors too :)

Thanks for the feedback and comments! I'll definitely start an led thread very soon. I want to get all my designs and ideas a bit more concrete before I do so. I envision it being a complete setup guide for someone new trying to build one. I'd also like to setup a separate thread with coral growth under LEDs.

Any info on the ASM muffling mod? I struggle with the noise coming from my G1. Looks great. I have a 75 as well and love the size

The muffler is like night and day with regards to the sound. Really easy to make. I did a quick search and can't find a single post on how to do it. I know I read it somewhere, but here it is from memory.

Materials:
- 1/2" or 3/4" PVC tube (3" long)
- 2 end caps (for chosen size PVC above)
- Extra tubing the same size as your venturi intake

Instructions:
1. Cut PVC to length 3"
2. Drill holes in each endcap to just be able to squeeze in the venturi tube
3. Put one endcap on end of PVC.
4. Put the venturi tube in the end cap (the one attached to PVC)
5. Push it in approx 2" into the 3" PVC
6. Push the extra tubing into the 2nd end cap (approx 2" also)
7. Slide the venturi tubes side by side within the PVC
8. Secure end cap
9. Enjoy the silence!
