75g reef tank build

Thanks for the replies guys. I will test parameters when I get home. Yeah I used about 40lbs of seeded live rock. Most of that is in the sump. As to the engineer goby, still not sure if he will be staying in my system. Lots of diatoms in the system last night. Means the tank is working. I'm actually surprised how much bloomed. My gfo and carbon reactors are running now so that should slow it down a bit. I'll also turn my light cycle down. I know I am moving a little fast but with the amount of seeded live rock I think I should be okay. Don't worry I won't be adding anything for a few weeks. Maybe a Duncan frag if I can find one!
Thanks again

Missed how long the tank was up and running for. Saw some stock in there. Longer the better for stocking. I learned that the hard way years ago.

Mad rush to keep corals alive otherwise they would be in another system. Light failure from a bad company. Had plenty of live rock to seed the system. Had a very small cycle.

Update.
Corals are getting huge. Awesome color. I have just been feeding ever other day.
Lots of detritus on the sand. Not so much on the rock. I may lower the light cycle. The system should take care of the detritus in a week or so.

Haha lots of money is an understatement. I wouldn't have traded it for anything else. The tank is beautiful. My engineer goby actually came out of his major tunnel system and was grabbing food. I'm thinking he grabbed a hermit crab though.

Your tank is looking great. If y watch how your corals are acting u Will learn to recognize when something is out of wack. Will be fun to watch your tank grow out.

Update
Just a quick shot of the system. Added a small CUC army to mostly move my sand around. Some sand snails and about 10 crabs.
Have a small patch of HA but I think that's from the excess nutrients in the system.
Finally got my skimmer tuned right and is giving me a nice brownish black skim.
Will be doing my first water change tonight or Tuesday night. Tank is looking good!
Very excited for my next additions in the next week or so.

Maybe I will have to look into a par meter. Have any ideas for an ro/di system. Looking at getting the bulk reef supply one. Or the aqua safe Canada one. That's pretty much my last purchase than this thing is good to go!

I use the Spectrapure 90gpd RODI. Works great. Almost got the BRS one but got a good deal on this one.

I had the proflex refugium smaller model but exact design the model 2 and always had a problem with microbubbles because of skimmer and return pump in same chamber. You have those problems??

I had 3 engineer gobies in my first tank. they were kind of cool, they started to annoy me when they got big and tunneled enough under the rocks to knock things over. If your rock work is glued in place you probably wont have a problem. I also rarely saw them, but their eel looking bodies were neat when I did.

I really like the one that I got from that Canadian RO-DI company. It works good and they have amazing customer service! The unit I got is 100GPD I have pretty good water pressure and its a 7stage unit so I do get a tad more than that with a 1-3 or 1-2 ratio. Really good system.

I don't have issues with micro bubbles, I have the blue sponge that goes after the refugium at the surface of the water. That way when the water falls over the baffle it has to go through the sponge in order to hit the water. That way all the bubbles are trapped in that small section.
I am seeing some bowing of the acrylic where the 90s go in the the first chamber.

I set in my rock before I added my sand. My goby did create a large tunnel system under my main rock display so you can see egg crate if you look closely. Also the light from the sump area goes through that spot, its not bright but I'm sure it stresses the little guy out. I will have to tape a black piece of paper over that spot. As long as he is happy I can live with the egg crate showing a little.

Skimmer is finally working good!
Tuned in perfectly

Update

Everything is going good. Corals are responding good. Fish are happy.

Wondering what this crap is in the sump. Looks like sand or gfo maybe? Gfo reactor is really low. I will be replacing it this week.

Any tips would help. Thanks

I will keep posting updates. I might be going to get a clown this weekend. I will have to put my female in a jail, while the new one gets used to the new home. I am away from the tank and my mother hears a beeping. My ato put a little to much water in the sump for some reason. I have no idea if the water level in the skimmer changed while it just got done filling. Not sure. I'll have to post when I get home. Hopefully the sump isn't flooding.
