my wonderful boyfriend bought me a 7gal cube for us to practice on before setting up his 55g. so far we have LS/LR, we bought ocean water and put in a yellow tailed blue damsel and let it sit for a week and tested the levels and stuff. our LFS told us to get hermit crabs to get rid of the brown algae on our rock so we got 10 (they were 10 for 15$) 2 peppermint shrimp and also a small frogspawn. the cube came with a 18W 50/50 light. we took the damsel to petco cuz he was picking at the shrimp and got a pair of percula clowns. everything seems to be doing ok. our levels are ok except that pH is around 7.8 and nitrate stays between 5 and 10. eveything seems to be going well. it all seems too easy... if im doing anything horribly wrong someone give me a heads up before my whole tank dies! im kind of attached to my clowns, huey and louie!

get rid of all of those crabs, keep maybe like 3 of them, you should wait about a month at least before you start adding livestock. Make sure you topoff the evaporated water with RO/DI water and not saltwater

yes, wait a month for the tank to cycle. Get rid of clowns, most of the cards except 4. Then pray your coral survives.

well the tank has been up for a month and everything is doing just fine. yes, even my coral. thanks for the vote of confidence everyone.
