The time has come for our third annual Reef-A-Palooza, Southern California's largest frag swap and hobbyist fair! It will be held August 19, 2006, 11:00 AM â€"œ 4:00 PM at 1300 E Gene Autry Way, Anaheim, CA.

This year we are making this event bigger and even more successful than before. Reef-A-Palooza is the Southern California Marine Aquarium Society’s (SCMAS) largest event each year. SCMAS is made up of hobbyists from the entire Southern California region and is one of the oldest aquarium clubs in the country, focused primarily on marine aquariums. It was established in 1986 with the goal of promoting our hobby and helping others to be successful and enjoy their aquariums in one of the largest marketplaces in the country.

Reef-A-Palooza is quickly becoming Southern California’s premier event, with over 200 hobbyists in attendance in the first year and over 300 in the second. Now in our third year, we are expanding and will have an even bigger event in a larger location. The new location increases our capacity and we expect to host over 500 hobbyists. Reef-A-Palooza was founded to increase awareness of the importance of sustainability in our hobby through a large, public and free frag swap. Reef-A-Palooza also helps educate beginning aquarists with workshops and presentations from well known author (Anthony Calfo & Robert Fenner), researchers and vendors.

Vendors such as AquaC, Current USA, Coralife/ESU, Hamilton, Hello Lights, Eheim, Liquid Life, Tunze, Fragfarmer.com, Marine Depot, SoCal Creations, Tom Aquatics, Marc Weiss, Reeffarmers/CFM, Garretts Acropolis, Jendub.com, and Tropical Oasis have taken advantage of this event to promote their products. Through their participation at this event, these companies have gained direct access to hobbyists, beginners and experts alike, acquiring new customers and receiving immediate feedback on new and existing products.

Booths are available free of charge for you to showcase your frags. In return , we ask for a donation to our raffle. We thank you in advance for your time, consideration, and participation.

Because this is such a large event, if you plan to sell or trade frags and require booth space, you will need to reserve a booth. If you have any further questions, or would like to reserve a booth to sell or trade frags please contact me asap. Greg.Carroll@scmas.org.

I cant even wait! What if we are just a person trying to sell/ trade some frags? I dont need a booth but a little tablespace...Can I just donate a frag or 2 of some zoas or something?

The reservation is to essentially reserve tabe space. send me an email. The choice of donation will be left to your judgement. I would not expect someone who plans on making $50 at the swap to donate to the same tune as someone who plans to make $500+.

See you guys there!!!

Greg will the vendors be there selling or informing us of their products? If so will I be able to buy frags from people that have fragged from their home tanks?

Thanks man

Sam

Some vendors will be selling, others will only be displaying and talking about their products.

Scotchmaster, want to share a "booth" with Sharkdude and I? I will probably only have a couple of items and only want a place to rest the cooler.

I may or may not have some pieces for sale, but good idea Nicole to stake out a shared spot.
I had offered to lend my table and shade canopy, but I could keep for us and maybe another small hobby vendor so long as they allow us some space.

What say you Chef?

Greg,

I am just curious as to where all the booths will be set up? In the parking lot right next to the building? Also, will there be shade canopy provided or do we need to bring our own? There doesn't seem to be too much natural shade provided by trees and such.

I can't wait. Hopefully I can make it. Thanks.

Sounds good nicole and chris....

BTW: Chris we need to have a frag-o-thon!!!!!

Greg, I'll donate a nice frag or two... You have mail btw.

I might not bring as much as I usually do... I might do bigger frags, and just individually pack them.

You should see how my colors exploded after I got my alk back down to 8.

Ken, the event will hapen in the lot between the buildings. We will provide shade for those that do not have it however it would be a great idea for those that can bring shade advise me when they make the reservation so we can get an idea of what we need.

ScotchMaster, don't rely on them to reserve a space for you. Send the email and get the ball rolling.

Feel free to list all items for sale and trade in this thread, just as in any other frag swap thread. No need for a food list because as always, the food and refreshments will be provided by SCMAS.

I was waiting for this thread to be started...
Nicole, scotchmaster I also have a few items I may want to sell, but I dont think I need or want a whole booth space. Do you think I can tag along? I have a large leather (12" across), maybe some sps frags, a nano calcium reactor and a kalk stirrer.

WTB: Alot of things, Ill see what I buy when I get there. I dont want to promise anyone anything since I just want any SPS that are colorful for my tank.

See you all there.
