Something strange has happened. I changed my rock structure and added a protein skimmer. I am now noticing that the temp is running at 82 even though it is set at 78. Before it was right on the money with an occasional bump up to 80 that drops back down to 78 fairly quickly. I am running a 150w Cobalt NeoTherm in a 29gal biocube.
We have vary little temperature fluctuation this time of year where I live and the house temp hasn't budged from 75 degrees in weeks. It is very well insulated. I did not run the lights at all today (or the last couple of days for that matter). When I got home from work the temp is just sitting there at 82.
I am wondering if the skimmer is restricting the flow a little and if that might be causing the change but the tank is running 7 degrees warmer than the house without the aquarium lights even on. And the tank does not receive light from outside.
I am sooo confused.
I am also wondering if any of you might know if a temp of 82 would be a problem for a reef set up where I plan to have a few fish (clowns, goby, maybe a dart) a few shrimp and corals.
