88 watt Leds

Thats a nice tank, but there only only about 2 SPS and they are considered easy ones. On the bottom he lists a birdnest he fragged, but I don't see it in any pics?

After reading and talking to every LED exporter and builder, I just ordered from Mike of SMGS llc. Watt for watt I can't find better, I don't think the 1 watt many led solution will be good for SPS, although it will look nice if that is what you are going for. There is no perfect light, this reminds me of early color TV adopters not buying because they were waiting for perfected units. Bet they still don't have color TV's. :blown:

I have been using these leds on my 90 gallon mixed reef with great results.I purchased my from southwest reef which is my lfs. I switched over from VHOs so I dont have a MH comparison but have been using them for a year now with no problems. I am currently keeping around 6 small sps frags that I picked up from swr and all of them are doing great. All are encrusting the bases and have shown good growth.

Here are a few photos of my tank with the led lights.

it has been a while since I checked this post, it is nice to see it is still a live and well.

kracer, I was just wondering if you have seen the new light covers and lens with the endcaps, since you stated that you have had the lights for a year I am assuming you have the generation one version, if you want I would be happy to upgrade your lights to the new cover, lens and end caps for free. and since you are coming up on the one year point we can check your lights and boards to make sure they are still within spec. since the warranty is good for one year this will give us a chance to check them out before they leave warranty. this is something we have been offering to our first generation customers that had faith in us and bought the generation one units. I am glad to hear they are working out good for you.

just let me know if you want to upgrade them and have the checked out, or you can let the LSF know and we can coordinate a pick up and drop off with them.

kindest regards,

Mike

Mike, any chance I could take you up on that offer? I'm actually between tanks right now due to a teardown, so it's good timing. That, and I was about to go blind from the side glare from the older all clear covers! These 144 Watts are bright!

Robert,

Hi this is Mike, I am sorry I missed your post, I have been traveling a lot this year, setting up new stores. John has been filling in on the sales side since I have been gone.
he was not aware of the offer I have been making to the owners of our first generation light units. so please let me re-extend the offer I had made on the above post to you. We will be glad to upgrade your light units to the new cover, lens, and endcaps, along with a fan upgrade for free. all we ask is you pay the shipping and give us two days in our shop to do the work for you.
to save weight all we need are the lights not the power supplies, just send me an email or call me so we can set up the shop time for you. again sorry for the misunderstanding between me and John.

Kindest regards,

Mike
