90 Gal reef for the girls.

I do 65-70 every week Cliff.
Tim you could have some water but it is plumbed directly into the sewer so it would have to be siphoned out and into 5 gal. buckets that would be a PITA. We couldn't do it fast enough to keep up with the pumps that I keep running while doing the change.
If it were me I wouldn't take someone elses used water because you just never know what's in it.
And hey it's only what $35 worth of salt? I'd use brand new water and keep it fresh :)

Not only that, with the 90 being hooked to the 125, you already have seasoned water. It is more like adding a 90 gallon sump to the 125 or doing a 90 gallon water change.

I did a 5 gal water change last night on the cooking rock and yuck. Looked like a bucket of elephant pee. I did another 5 gal change tonight and it didn't look much better.

The replacement LLC (Liquid Level Controller) for the ATO came in today so I hooked that up. Yeahhh, this one works.

Holly molly that water is yellow. Is that the Marco Rock you are curing?
Yes and I threw some of mine in there to help it cycle. It sure looks nasty, I wonder what the ammonia reading would be, wish I had a kit.

Ammonia is prolly pretty high. I guess I should get an ammonia test kit too. Its been a while since i tested for it. My guess its going to be a while before you add those rocks to your system.

Yeah I was thinking that adding some of mine would help out the cycle but now I think maybe I polluted my rock.

Tim, how long did you soak it or rinse it? that looks nasty.

I just put it in the can and took 20 gal and some rock out of my tank and started cooking. I've done two five gallon water changes on it so far. I'll maybe do a 10 or more tonight. I agree it looks nasty. I wasn't expecting to see that. Make's me wonder what is in that rock or what else could have caused it.

Everybody else who got this rock let me know if you have similar results.

Its prolly dead rotting sponges that has been dried out. I plan to hose mine down and sun dry it out before I start curing it.

What do you think their process is for harvesting this rock? It looks pretty clean and bleached from the sun. Do you think they yank it out of the water and just let it sit under the sun for awhile or is there some kind of cleaning process they do.

I got my Pinpoint monitors probe bracket done today. I'll pick up a couple more plastic 1/4-20 screws the next time I'm at HomoDepot so I can level it out. I made some extra slots to hold more probes in the future if I decide to get any more monitors.

Nice, that material looks thick enough to hang a truck off of ;)
It's the same 1/2 PVC I used on the other brackets. I think since I made the ribs 1 inch wide instead of 2 inches wide like on the other brackets it looks a lot thicker.

very nice build keep the pics comming. i JUST love all the home made stuff.......................
