90 Gal reef for the girls.

I got most of the plumbing figured out on the 90 today.

I'm really starting to hate threaded bulkheads. Those fricken things plagued my a$$ again today. I had to unthread the nut to the bulkhead so I could spin the bulkhead onto the fitting glued to the spa flex. If they were a slip it would have been so easy to just slide them right on in there but nooooooo, I had to buy threaded fricken bulkheads.

Did I mention I hate threaded bulkheads?


Got side tracked a couple times and lost a few hours on the day. All I need to do is slide it back against the wall and tie it into the fittings in the floor. I'm going to wait to do that until I get the overflow box glued in just incase I need to get around the back of the tank to do it.

Eric should be done with that around Tue I think. If I can get that glued in by the end of the week I'll be putting some water in that bad boy over the weekend.

I picked up a piece of 1/8 inch acrylic from Eric today that I'll cut 3 pieces from tomorrow and glue into the fuge to separate it into two sections. I was thinking about doing some kind of macro algae in the input side and put sand and rubble in the outflow side. I'm new the fuge thing so I really don't know what to do here. My goal is to get a Mysis and Pod population thriving so some will always be flowing out of the fuge and into the 125.

Ok, I think I'll be needing some. I'm pretty sure my Six Line Wrass and Target Mandrin are knocking the population way down. They are way fat and I haven't been seeing as many lately.

I just did my first 30 gal water change using the new system. Man that Dart is a beast. I pushed out 30 gal in under a minute.

I didn't time it because I did a 100% water change on the cooking rock and added the first 20 out of the 125 to the rock can then hooked up to the house drain stack and shot the other 10 down that. I did all that in under a minute.

I'm going to have to find a new reason to dislike waterchanges now.

I started caulking in the dividers into the fuge this morning and got side tracked with house work and yard work. I only got two pieces in. The three pieces are just sitting in there in the picture.

I'll put the third one in when I get home tomorrow and finish plumbing it. That should take care of everything downstairs.

I started on the canopy late this afternoon and had a perfectly straight piece of oak veneer plywood warp on me after I made a couple of cuts. I've never had this happen before, how about anyone else? It's going to be real difficult now to keep everything straight and cut the miter joints properly. Anyone know how to straighten out a piece of plywood???

The only thing I managed to get done on it was the front door and front top piece assembled.

Tim, I would water test the tank before you push it back against the wall. Why are your baffles so high in the fuge? You should have two all the way to the bottom, forcing the water under the wall and the one in the middel all the way to the bottom so that the water goes up and over the top.

Those pieces are not glued in that picture. I just put them in there after I cut them on the table saw.

Got the fuge plumbed in tonight. It's not pretty but it should work. Still need to figure out what to do for a light.

The PH has been between 8.0 and 8.2

The PH monitor is at 6.5 but that is to the probe in the calcium reactor. The chiller is a 1/4 HP
form West Coast Aquatics about 12 years old now I think.

I don't think 100 pipefish could wipe out the pod population you have in that tank.
