90 Gallon Custom Tank... Build Thread!

Anyone know what size and where to drill float switch holes?
I already drilled my 1/2" Probe holes and my sump is completely routed... I should have pics soon

Well I've started to water test my sump and:
It has a SINGLE TINY pinhole leak that leaks probably a drop of water every 60 seconds. and I learned I need to put a brace on my Fuge Section because it's 16-18 inches high and only 14"... I can't believe I forgot that!

OK so...
My Dad took the D70 with him so I had to use an old digital point and shoot... sorry it's out of focus

The whole sump:

I have no idea how this happened... I couldn't tell it was there till I pulled doff the paper. It's on the Eurobrace BTW

This part is what's bowing a little too much for my liking...

This is what most of the seams look like... Nice and bubble free.

Well if you haven't seen it yet I found today's Woot especially funny...

MASTER TIMOTHY HEARTWARM: Gosh, Rush! Look at all the nature!

MRS. JOHANNA HEARTWARM: Yes, Rush, thanks ever so. Young Timmy has been so sad since his father died. And he’s been so sick, I think the fresh air will do him good.

RUSH HAMPTON, MOSQUITO CATCHER: It’s nothing, Johanna! I’m up here every weekend. This cabin is practically my second home.

MASTER TIMOTHY HEARTWARM: Gosh, Rush! I can’t see any smog at all! Central Park is nothing like this! Hey, what’s that? It looks like a really thin spider, but it’s on my arm! Hey, I think it likes me!

MRS. JOHANNA HEARTWARM: Timmy, run!

RUSH HAMPTON, MOSQUITO CATCHER: TIMMY!! TIMMYYYYYYYYYYYY!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!

MASTER TIMOTHY HEARTWARM: Rush… what just happened? Why do I feel… ohhhh… dizzy?

RUSH HAMPTON, MOSQUITO CATCHER: That’s blood loss, Timmy. You’ve been bitten by… a mosquito.

MASTER TIMOTHY HEARTWARM: Is that a kind of Native American tribe?

MRS. JOHANNA HEARTWARM: That’s it, Timmy. Try to be brave. Rush, is there… anything we can do?

RUSH HAMPTON, MOSQUITO CATCHER: Don’t worry, Johanna. He’ll be fine. It’ll take more than one mosquito to bring down Master Timmy Heartwarm, right, Timmy?

MASTER TIMOTHY HEARTWARM: So… so cold… so cold…

MRS. JOHANNA HEARTWARM: Rush, help him!

RUSH HAMPTON, MOSQUITO CATCHER: Timmy, look at this. Do you know what this is? This is Rush Hampton, Mosquito Catcher’s two pack of Rush Hampton Mosquito Catchers.

MASTER TIMOTHY HEARTWARM: Th…that name seems… needlessly complex…

RUSH HAMPTON, MOSQUITO CATCHER: You’re sick, Timmy, you don’t know what you’re saying. But look at this. You turn on this blue LED light, and mosquitos fly right up and then-
bzztwrr

RUSH HAMPTON, MOSQUITO CATCHER: All gone. And you hear that? That’s the little fan inside chopping them into bits. What’s left goes into a collection drawer, and you can pour it out into a little pile that will cause other mosquitos to fear you as it grows over time.

MRS. JOHANNA HEARTWARM: And worship you as a god, isn’t that right, Rush?

RUSH HAMPTON, MOSQUITO CATCHER: I thought we agreed not to talk about that, Johanna.

MASTER TIMOTHY HEARTWARM: Talk about what?

RUSH HAMPTON, MOSQUITO CATCHER: Timmy… this machine was invented by a great man… your father.

MASTER TIMOTHY HEARTWARM: My father?

RUSH HAMPTON, MOSQUITO CATCHER: That’s right, Timmy. The greatest mosquito catcher of them all. His blood is in your veins… and inside the greatest monster that ever walked the earth.

MASTER TIMOTHY HEARTWARM: The Mansquito.

RUSH HAMPTON, MOSQUITO CATCHER: That’s right, Timmy. We didn’t want to tell you until you were older but… well, now you know. Tim Heartwarm the First died at the strangely powerful hands of the Mansquito. Here.

MASTER TIMOTHY HEARTWARM: Rush… but this is yours!

RUSH HAMPTON, MOSQUITO CATCHER: Not any more. Now it’s the Master Timmy Heartwarm Two Pack of Rush Hampton Mosquito Catchers. Go on, Timmy. Avenge your father.

MASTER TIMOTHY HEARTWARM: Father! I swear it! I will stop the Mansquito once and for all! Father! The sleeper has awakened!

RUSH HAMPTON, MOSQUITO CATCHER: He’s a good kid, Johanna.

MRS. JOHANNA HEARTWARM: Rush… will he be okay?

RUSH HAMPTON, MOSQUITO CATCHER: No way, that Mansquito thing’s gonna kill him in like ten seconds. You need a ride back to town?

Wow... I'm glad I got away with 1/4" for everything but the front...

You haven't gotten away with it yet! ;)

The eurobrace will help, but what are the dimensions on your sump?

40.5 x 16 x 18...
The actual water level is only around 10" though.
When the tank drains it'll be at 12". With the Euro Brace, the guy in the DIY forum Acrylics said It'd get away without any bowing
The water level it's at now is the Running water level and there is NO bowing except for the back of the fuge.

The reason the front is 3/8" is because of the fuge and how it's 16" deep at all times

Ugh... Every Build thread has it's bad points.
I got that Tiny Naso and it was having problems staying vertical when swimming... Even in the bag
It's been getting worse when I walk Into my room and see my koralia blow him right into my Anemone. The anemone grabs on and I try to get him out of the nem with a Kent scraper. I didn't want to reach in with my hand because I had no idea what the anemone would do to me.
Couldn't get him out. Gills stopped moving so I got the camera.

You know it's bad when your putting the WO 16 in the seams and the fumes are building up and all the cuts on your hands just start to BURN

Ooh I have a question...
Where do you get those really easy to use Ball Valves? Like these ones that Jim_S uses (They appear to be Schedule 40)
Calcium-reactor-install3.jpg

You can pick them up online at Bulk reef supply or locally or normac industrial, Ewing, or Ryan Herco.

Doahh, I get mine from a buddy I know that works at fastenal.

If you need some, just let me know and I'll have him get them for you. I don't make any profit from them, but have been really happy with the quality and don't mind helping locals out :)

Jim

Yep, there are two unions and one ball valve, all schedule 80. Plumbing is a very underated cost in tank builds.

Wow...
Is this the same Ball Valve?
http://www.fastenal.com/web/products/detail.ex?sku=0471834

Yes, it sure is. These are very high quality, long lasting BV's. I've never had BV last this long and still maintain really good action on the handle. Its as if they were still brand new, but they're going on just over 2 years :D

The are made by a company called Nibco.

If you want them, lets just say I get them for less than half pice ;)

How would I use these True Union Schedule 80 Ball valves in my plumbing if I have schedule 40 pipe and bulkheads
