90 Gallon FW to SW conversion starts tomorrow!

I noticed you have a couple of maxijets in your tank.
There is a great modification for these. It increases water flow.
I have the maxijet 1200 version from here
http://www.reefdom.com/default.asp
There are also a lot of DIY instructions on reef central.
The maxijets work well when turned on and off. This is a good
match for wave makers. Some live rock may have sea fans etc.
that like a lot of current.

Youch, they want $60 for one of those? I wanted to mod two of my maxi's and put them on a DIY wavemaker.

I was wondering if I could get them pre-built, but for $60 each I'm gonna have to make a project out of it.

Thanks for the link Mike!

Dave

The MJ mods are in my future. I am definately looking into them...but my wife won't allow any more "manly arts and crafts" for a little while. At MJMODS.com you can get 2x Deluxe kits for $56....not bad at all. There is also a video I saw last night on how to do the mod.....it looks pretty easy!

I have also ordered another Overflow to get the maximum flow with the Mag 18. I also was seeing some surface scum on the opposite side to where the overflow is now. This should take care of that.

The Reef Octopus NW 150 has started doing a good job. It takes 2 weeks for it to kick in.

I wonder how many people are interested in this mod? Might be a good idea for a meet. We might be able to get a discount on a bulk order of the supplies.

Dave

It does look easy. We should wait until part B comes out and see how many people would be interested.

I have access to a LCD projector, we could project the videos up on a big screen and pause it for each step. It would be nice to have someone who has already done this supervise. ;)

What do you think?

Steve

P.S. The lights are temporary until I can afford a 2 X 250W MH w/ CF Actinics

It is fun and exciting to see a system get setup... I am not much into the 'manly arts and crafts' of it, (sometimes wish I was) but the rest of the process is awesome.....I think it is time for tank tour ;)

Your wife also is a talented writer and story teller... I loved reading her stuff.....I will tell you a little trick my fathter inlaw used when his wife limited him on his beers - he would have several open cans throughout the house and work shop and played them off as the same one ;) Seemed to work for years, maybe you try this at home :D

I also agree on the group buy and meet for the MJ Mods.... will look into that for Nov

Nice Tank!

Great job Steve. The salt marks didn't detract at all, in fact I'm mostly used to looking through them as mine have salt marks most of the time. I, too enjoyed your wifes' blog writing. Nice looking yellow tang, I think they add so much to a tank. My 265g is still not up or running but....... all the tanks and livestock are moved in from the garage and the only causualties were one of my goldies. Everyone else fine and dandy. Keep up the good work and keep us posted. Sue
