900 Gallon Reef Project

just curious,
what plumbing issues would cause a delay in the water test? (i could only think of silicone not being ready, or not having the equipment for setting up the closed loop.)
i would install the bulkheads and plug them for a test.

but i would also wait longer for the silicone to cure because rushing is not worth a leak or split seam!!

patience is the best....
(im just too impatient. i would honestly have to leave the area (vacation or something) or i would be in that room every day!)

looks good. cant wait till june 11th for an update!

Well the silicon has dried for 3 solid weeks, I dont think that is much of an issue. The main problem is we dont have enough fittings to finish the closed loop tomorrow, so we will probably still fill the tank, but we wont be able to test the plumbing for leaks till the next time the crew is back in town. And yes, I am down there 2-3 hours a day, I would sleep down there if it wasnt for all the PVC related fumes...

i would never drill into it....... i would probably just cut a frag plug at an angle, and superglue it to the wall...... if you drilled and poked a little too far, you would have a big swimming pool.. or, you could just break the frag off the plug and glue straight to the wall.. it will cover the superglue, and it would look more natural.

my opinions of course!

I agree 100%. You could drill if you were extremely careful but why would you when you could also just glue frags to the tile itself. I really can't wait to see what it looks like filled today, I might have to go for a swim!!

ageed. was wondering why not drill b4 putting it in. if its rigid and porous tho no need. it is an awesome idea!!!
tank looks great man.
corey

no kyle it wont because the water has no where to go. it is plumbed from the tank to the pump and back to tank so it has no where to go.

hey can you explain why the limestone was used on the back wall? confused slightly on that.........but it looks awesome!

ahhhhh i c

I have a feeling there is a large tank somewhere in New Jersey getting a whole bunch of water right now...

C'mon! Pictures.

That back wall is amazing!
It's going to look great with corals growing on it!
Very sweet!!!

We never finished the two closed loops plumbing wise so the guys convinced me not to do the fill this week. Looks like I will just have to wait the 14 long days until we start the next phase. :worried:

Okay I need help building my fish list. I am huge tang and wrasse fan and am looking for some advice as to what I should stock the tank with. I am not even sure what kind of bio load the 1500 gallon system can handle. My current 210 holds the following fish:

1- 4" Blue Hippo Tang
1- 5" One spot fox face
1- 5"Tomini Tang
1- 3" Purple tang
1- Flame Angel
10- Green Chromis
2- Blue Mandarins
1- Watchman Goby

I certainly want to add a Vlamingii Tang and an Achilles Tang to the setup as well as a Fowleri. I will probably add about 10 lyretail anthias to the system.

melanuras wrass
leopard wrass
flashers of some kind definitely
looking good cant wait to see it full. how much LR are you getting and what kind??

I am getting around 600 pounds of Marshall Island rock and 600 pounds of Fiji. I have a few pieces that will be really extra large show pieces to take advantage of the tank size.

Conspic Angel, Clarion, Interruptus, Bandits, Wrought Iron Butterfly, Lineatus Wrasses, Flame Wrasses, Potters Angels Pair, Blue Line Angels, Resplendent Anthias(20) Labouti Wrasse, Rhomboid Wrasses, Gem Tang, Black Tang, Dusameri Tang, Candy Bassletts, I could go on!

Unfortunatly, most of these are not cheap, yet absolutly Stunning!!!

At this point livestock cost isn't really an issue. I didn't spend all this money on a giant tank to have 500 green chromis! :spin1: Where can I even find a Gem tang?
