9010 DOC Skimmer

RBU1

Moving on Up
Hi Roger,

I recently purchased a 9010 skimmer from a fellow member of this site. The skimmer was advertised as only being a couple months old. When I got it today I followed the directions in the manual to take it apart because I wanted to inspect the condition. On the top of the pump it appears the piece that should be attached to the housing that the air hose goes into was glued. The piece the air hose goes into is actually in 2 pieces and I think the one piece should be permanent on the pump. The other thing I noticed was it appears the person could not get the housing that covers the impeller off and pried it with a screwdriver bending back a little of the plastic. What do you think about this? Should I see if the person will return my money? I paid $230.00 for it.

I appreciate your help. BILL

What I should have asked was if these issues will effect the skimmer performance and also if they are an easy fix.

Thanks Roger. BILL

I can email you a little video thing I did with my cell phone. Can you send your email address?

The part that you show that broke off just came unglued, it is glued on at the factory, you could use airplane model cement or ABS cement to repair this.

I cannot see how bad the damage is to the motor block, if their is substantial bypass from this part that will interfere with the skimmer performance and the motor block is not a cheap part. You would need to run the pump and see how much water escapes this gap.

OK how do I test the pump to see how much water is escaping? I assume the end that the air line attaches to is the output. This being the case if I take the other end and hold it in the sink should I be able to tell if water is coming from the opening? Hopefully no water comes out. If no water comes out that means I am good.....Correct?

OK lets hope the pump does not leak water out of that location. Thank you for the help Roger. BILL
