9010 - how much skimmate are you getting?

I purchased a 9010 skimmer back before Christmas for my 55 gal reef. Since getting it, I don't seem to get much skimmate - actually about the same amount I got from my AquaC Remora. With it feshly cleaned, I will pull about 100 ML in about a day and a half, but then it takes about 5 days to double that amount. I have 4 fish and feed fairly heavily. For any of you that have the 9010, how much skimmate do you pull and what size tank is it on?

100ml in a day and a half sounds very good. On my 58 I usually get about 250 ml a week. As the riser tube fouls with debris and oils the skimming process is impeded, you always get more with a clean new cup. Within reason the more you clean the cup the better the result will be.

Also, when I say 100ml, this is running very wet. Skimmate is not thisk at all like I see in others pictures, it is a greenish liquid.

Greenish liquid would be normal if there is a lot of various algae in the aquarium. You can make the skimmate less watery if you close the air adjustment screw a 1/4 turn. Skimmate color varies with what is being removed. With a lot of algae it tends to be green and smell like capsaicin, a peppery smell.

I have been having an algae problem lately, have added a phosban reactor to try to help and have been manually removing what I can. Thanks for the quick responses. This is part of the reason I decided on the Tunze skimmer, seeing how good you were with customer support along with the great reputation of the company. Thanks again!

Mine gets a good bit, but what was the most telling was how little algae ocurred. Even when I drpooed off on maintence a bit I never had a problem with algae and nitrates. I also love the fact that I am not messing with it constantly.
