9010 not producing skimmate

I know this is pretty vague but I had a quick question about my 9010 skimmer. It is located in the sump and it isnt producing any skimmate, in fact I took the collection cup off and there doesnt even seem to be any bubbling going on. I have had this running for about 4 months now on my 90 gallon. The tank has had cured live rock from my other system in it for about that amount of time. Currently there are some stomatella and a few snails in the display. I have adjusted that little blue knob all the way in and I have even run it for a week with the knob all the way out. I was curious if maybe you can pick up on something I have been doing wrong. Thanks.

I'd take the skimmer apart as described in the manual for "annual maintenance". There are a few things to check on:

1) Make sure the airline tubing for the venturi is connected (both ends). One end is connected about halfway up to a piece inside the skimmer. The other end hooks into the pump.
2) The outlet for the pump needs to be pushed into the opening for it inside the skimmer. This directs the water + bubbles through a chamber that gets them all mixed well.
3) Make sure the standpipe is not pushed all the way in for the H20 outlet for the skimmer. It should only go in about 1 cm.

When it is working properly, you should see _tons_ of bubbles in the skimmer when looking from the top, and plenty of water (with few bubbles) exiting the top of the standpipe. You should also hear air entering the skimmer -- more when the blue screw is "open" and less when it is "closed".

I would suspect the airline has been detached or some tiny snails are jamming the pump.

Crumbletop pretty well covered it.

I just wanted to say thanks. I took it apart today and founf that to be the exact problem. Somehow the airline had come loose, I reconnected it to the pump and it was fixed, good as new.

One more quick thing, should I let a lot of air in via the blue screw or just kind of keep it more closed?
Thanks for all of the help,
James

Basically you will adjust the air to get the color of skimmate you want but I always start with 3 turns open. From there I open it 1/4 turn a day to lighten the skimmate or close it 1/4 turn a day to darken the skimmate. It is important to give it time to get a result.
