9010 Skimmer Foam?

Hi, I just replaced my troublesome Euro-Reef skimmer with a Tunze 9010.. I have placed the unit in sump and have put on the appropriate accessories..

How long before the unit produces any bubbling or foam? Mine just seem to to push water out of the back hole and the front pipe. I see no bubbling occuring inside the unit.. just water circulating..

Am I missing something or is there a long break in period?

If there is no bubbling it is likely that the airline is not connected to the pump. Please disassemble and check this.

hmmm I'm looking at the diagram at back of box and my skimmer isn't setup like that internally..

it looks like my airline side is connected to some 1/4 tubing and a nozzle that comes up teh center of he unit.. not to the pump side at all like in the diagram...

Why would it be configured like that from factory? I don't see any instructions about it.. My unit was new from Marinedepot..

The diagram is a basic illustration and not to scale it is just to show how it works. However it should be roughly like is shown. There is a silencer tube on one side, a clear 1" plastic tube and that has an airline attached that connects to the venturi nozzle of the pump. The manual does cover the pump removal and assembly and I think either the airline is not connected to the venturi nozzle of the pump or the venturi nozzle was broken in transport.

ahhh I figured it out.. that line must have come loose during shipping? strangely it doesn't go back into the hole on the pump side cleanly.. it sort of falls out unless it is bent in a way to keep pressure on it after the pump is put back in

Your nozzle is defective. PM me your address and we will send one. For the interim a couple rounds of teflon tape on the airline nipple will get it running. It should be snug but some nozzles were made .1mm too large.

...and the skimmer is making really think foamy dark brown skimmate right now.
