9015 in sump skim collection ??

my skimmer seems to be working good,my question is,how much skim should i be making,i get a little bit of green liquid every 2 days,and dirty foam rising,is this right,have a 125 tank been up 2 months not heavily stocked 8 fish,thanks

Every tank is different, the fact that the skimmate is green suggests you have some algae growth or you feed algae to your fish. I would expect about 50ml a day based on what you describe.

well im getting way less than that is there a problem

my tank only has 35 lbs. of live rock,yellow tang,small naso tang,3 small clowns,2 small heniouchos,and a purple chromis,heavy filtration w bio balls,maybe that is why small skim amount? sound right?

It could well be normal given it is a low load in a new tank. How far open is the air inlet screw?

pretty open,im getting crud up the walls of the clear tube,just not a alot of liquid,my dealer dominic said its ok?

It sounds pretty normal but you might try opening the screw another turn.

i turned up the screw,its way out now,like almost all the way,but i got a ton of skim out in a few hours,like 50,ml,i also divided the sump with a tank divider ,the kind with all the little holes,i was the guy that had the small sump with all the micro bubbles,i got the skimmer off dominic in blackwood,he suggested the divider,now no bubbles,and plenty of skim,is this okay dom said its fine on both accounts,thanx roger

The screw can be left out but it is generally best to have it in just one turn at a minimum. Don't lose it.

hey roger,i noticed the water returning from the pipe with blue foam around it has lessened alot,not nearly as mant bubbles coming out,and not nearly as much splashing,and foam still rising,dominic said thats good it is finally broken in is that right,sounds right,thanx

also,the water coming up and out the return pipe is not running over the blue foam pad,but rather up and inside the pad,nothing on the outside of it,is this ok???

That is the correct operation, it should have just a slow trickle out of the pipe.
