9015 Question

I saw the post on the 9010 Skimmer which said the hole on the back of the skimmer was normal and that water should leak out of that against the back of the glass. That answered my first question. My second question about the 9015 Skimmer, reguards the cover with sliding cover where the skimmer cup and lid sit. Is this suppose to leak a small amount of water above the word Tunze on the seam? I've disconnected and reconnected it several times, just as the bottom sliding cover needed to be pushed tight for aquarium cabinet mounting. No matter what I seem to do, it still leaks a little from the top cover with sliding cover. What do I need to do? The skimmer has been running for nearly two weeks now and still does not seem to pick up much organics even with the air adjustment screw removed completely. Am I losing that much pressure from the small leak? Any input would be appreciated.

It is both normal and not correct for water to leak from that top seam. Normal in the sense that it is not sealed and water can leak from there, the top just clips on. However, if water in anything beyond a slow occasional trickle is escaping from there the water column is too high inside and choking the airflow. You may find the skimmer makes a gurgling or percolating noise. The elbow for the pipe may be inserted too far or the foam sponge is above the pipe and backing up the water into the skimmer.

Thanks. I'll try lowering the foam sponge, as I think it is about a half inch or so above the pipe and not level with the pipe. The elbow does not seem like it's in too far. As far as the leak, there are three seperate leaks, one on the far left, one in the middle, and one on the right hand side. All three are fairly slow trickles falling down the body of the front of the skimmer. Thanks again!

The foam sponge should be even with the pipe.

Roger, thanks! The foam is even with the pipe. No more leaks from the top, and I've skimmed almost 100mL in about a day. Excellent customer support. Thanks again
