I'm looking into this skimmer for my upgrade. I'm going to a 150g and I don't have a sump so I'm looking for a quiet, efficient skimmer that will either mount in the tank or on the back. This tank is also eurobraced so that makes it a bit more difficult. Is this model a good choice? I see it is rated for 158gallons. I don't plan on stocking heavily.

The 9206 is not my preferred for in tank, the horizontal "classic" skimmers are long and produce more of a shadow than the Comline models. In general I would use a Comline model unless you need the plankton safe feature or extremely low profile. Keep in mind that our stated baseline ratings are essentially for a FOWLR type tank, fish, live rock, a few polyps and macro algaes. Deduct 20% for more softies and LPS, 40% for mixed reef, 60% for SPS and 70% for a heavily stocked SPS tank. In general I would suggest the 9011 or 9211.

9206 and 9211 still use rail type holders and that is what is included, the 9011 would include a magnet for up to 1/2". You could either outfit it with the rail holder 3130.250 or a stronger magnet 6200.500.

I don't believe you can find a quieter skimmer.

3130.250 is a rail/clamp type holder that will work on up to 2" thick trim/glass

6200.500 is a magnet holder for up to 3/4"

Ok, I apparently can get a 9011 for a really good price. I just have to make sure it fits in my tank. Can you tell me where I would order the clamp or magnet holder, and how tall is the cup (how far does it need to stick out of the water?

Thanks!

Hmm, been doing some more reading, will this skimmer even work in a eurobraced tank? Here is a pic of what I've got:

It could be made to work with the 3130.250 clamp/rail type holder and 2 3000.244 extensions, the magnets are out with this type of brace. However, it won't be a particularly nice looking install as it will stick out from the back wall the width of the brace + about a 1/2".

Ok, so apparently the glass is only 1/2" thick, it's my other tank that's thicker. The magnets should work ok on that right? I can stick it on the side, toward the back and hopefully it won't look to bad.

Unless there is an area where the bracing is missing, the magnets are completely out of the equation, the brace will not allow the cup to be installed if the skimmer is flush to the back wall. With the bracing, I don't see any practical way around having a sump.

there is bracing along the back and the front but the sides don't have any. I'm thinking I could install it on the side towards the back, then it shouldn't stick out too bad. I hope
