95 Gallon Build Thread

If you can, I would try and salvage one cup of the stuff on the top, and use it to seed your new sand.

Or well... you could always just seed it from your older tank.

Well I had a nasty diatom bloom I was dealing with from not having RODI water. I've since ordered a RODI unit and Phosban reactor.

Nice thing is seems the bloom is going away on it's own accord. I'm guessing the diatoms have ate through the available phosphates.

FYI, my parameters are still staying steady with the exception of the phosphates showing up.

Cycle is still stable, still going to give it another 3 weeks or more to settle down. My diatom outbreak will be long gone by then since it's aleady subsiding with the addition of the RODI and phosban reactor.

I'm starting to research some LS and trying to decide on a smaller fish. Has to be reef safe and be able to get along with my Clark's clown.

I've not had too much luck with the following fish

Rock Blenny
Bullet Goby
Firefish

Everyone of these fish starved. The Bullet would only eat live brine and nothing else no matter what supplement I soaked it in.

The Blenny did great for a long time then just go reclusive and died. I"m guessing he got harrased by the goby.

The firefish I lost after moving North, I'm guessing the move got to him since he was healthy before I got here.

The clown has been a camper. I'm thinking of trying a blenny again since he was rather comical.

Tank params are still stable, I think within a week I may be able to start transferring my LS to the new tank. I'll post as I start doing it.

My clarkie got along with everyone in the tank --it was just me that he had a hate on for--everytime I would move a rock he would move it back--everytime I would fill a hole in he would dig it out--our friendship ended when he bit my hand and drew blood:D

Point being --clarkies get along with most other fish

sorry about your luck with the gobies and the blennies but IMO it wasn't because of the Clarkie

nah, I don't blame the my fish losses on the clarki, from what I've seen he seems to get along with everyone. I just had problems with those particular fish eating for some reason.

I've got my eye on a molly miller blenny at the LFS, very comical fish. I've already had them feed him in front of me and it has a voracious appetite.

I still like the firefish--my grandkids call them twitch fish because of their jagged movements
