96 Watt PC for anemone?

Would 96 watt of PC, a coralife quad bulb fixture be ok for an anemone in a 20gallon tall?

or should i consider 96watt of TO 50 a 4 bulb set up?

i do not have the anemone yet but want to start planning for one.

Well you have close to about 5 watts to the gallon so I dont see any reason why it couldnt work. But I will warn you that if you were to ever get the money to upgrade to like a 4 to 6 bulb t5 that would be the way to go.Even a 150 MH would be an okay lignt for that size tank!BVut for now I dont see any reason why it couldnt work. But it would only work for a Bubble Tip Anemone because most of the other anemones will become to big and will need to much light for what the little PC light has to offer!

Thanks,

Thank you for a well thought out answer and that helped me come to a decision for now atleast. The only reason i asked is because i have the 96watt on my 35gallon which i want to upgrade to a 6bulb t5 HO and move the 96 watt to the 20 gallon instead of having to buy a new light for it. Down the road i'd probably replaced it was t5's but since i would have the light i would use it.

Your welocme!Any time ya need help just ask for it!

Okay I see what you going to do with the lights!SO like I said above I would only do a Bubble Tip.They may get to be larger than 12 inches so be ready to upgrade or move the anemone if it gets to that size!

considering you seem like the clown guru, im going to listen to you

i've already found a guy selling some clons/spilts of bubble tips around here though they're small that will be good for me as i can keep them longer.

On average how long does a bubble take to grow in size? say from 1-2 inchs to like 4 or 5 inchs.

i know lights, feeding and water all play a part but in a perfect world.

Well as you said it depends...but in a perfect world I would say at the most mabey 2 years. It may be even shoter than that! They grow fast for me so I cant really say as I havent had them grow to slow.So if you have good params I dont see any reason why they wont grow as fast as they do for me!Iv had them grow about a inch in 2 months. So they can grow vey fast!

As stated on your other thread, 96wt is fine for that tank if your considering a BTA. Be prepared to change the bulb twice a year.

With your two Clarks, you'll want at least a fully open 4-6" BTA to start. Any smaller and they might be a bit rough on the anemone.

Long term, your clowns can outgrow a 20H as well. 4-5" is not unusal for healthy Clarks.

Heck, I would say even bigger for a pair of Clarkiis, closer to 8 inches. I watched my pair of Clarkiis kill a BTA that was on the smaller size --- it was a long time ago so can't remember the exact size.

As for how fast BTA can grow, they (( and any anemone )) can/will grow surprisingly fast, even with limited feedings. The last BTA that I had was 15" across when I sold it, and even when it split it was back to that size in a month or two.
