They certainly don't seem to tolerate high nitrates.

I guess it depends upon what you mean by high nitrates? In my experience, Mags will do fine in tanks with nitrate levels below about 20, though they do tend to wander a bit more as levels approach 20 - at least, that has been my non-scientific observation. FWIW

No, pumps were on. It just tends to be a real rigid anemone most of the time. Actually, the small one snuggled up next to it also tends to be very rigid as well.

Yeah, you're right, my statement was rather relative. Your observations are about the same as what I have experienced. Usually, above about the 20 mark they seem to do a lot of foot shifting.
