these are small (up to 5") frequently beautifully colored scorpionfish that use the front of their dorsal fin as a fishing lure (a decoy).if you look at the image the front of the top dorsal fin looks like the head and mouth of a small fish. the third fin ray extends upward to imitate the first dorsal of a fish when potential prey come into range the Iracundus will wiggle and wave this portion of its fin to look like another fish, it also flexes the 1 and 2 dorsal ray to appear like the decoy fish is opening its mouth. I had one of these fish in the early 2000 and its ate heartily and had no issues w/ mellow tankmates that couldnt fit into its mouth

hmmm they dont get very big right? because i want one in my tank when its up and running and im getting 2 clowns hippo tang and some other fish. i just didnt know if they would be killed

I have found through personal experience that tangs or any other "grazer" are not good tankmates for scorps... Especially when they look like a tasty piece of algae on a rock
