Nice Doug - you have the "original" 5D like me? [/QUO
Yup. I have to admit that I'm coveting the new one a bit, but I love this camera.

Where these taken in their main reef setup?
Some of the colonies they have in there are doing amazingly well...
What were your thoughts on their tropical tanks Doug? I missed the tank with their huge psychedelic mandy. Their Eel tank was a bit overstocked imo- but im curious about your opinion on any/all of their tanks....
The hawk was. The star was in what used to be the anemone tank in the splash zone, over by the penguins. The other two were over in the rocky shores area.
We were there for a members event at night so lots of the smaller display tanks were dark. I was also partaking in the wine tasting event so I wasn't paying too much attention.
I don't worry too much about their husbandry. The move animals in and out all of the time and I feel very strongly that they're about the animal and its cause first and the "aquarium" second.

Thanks folks!
Marc, the 24-70, when Canon isn't offering a rebate, costs ~1200 which is more than many consumer camera bodies. I wouldn't exactly call it "the stock lens."

I live in the Bay area too and go to the Monterey Aquarium all the time. I also love to kayak outside and see the otters and seals.
Your pictures are great but next time please get a picture of the giant octopus if you can. She is my favorite creature there and I have had the honor of feeding her! I also love the leafy sea dragons!
