A Few ORA Pics

Just took some decent pics of three of my ORA corals. Not sure what the third is for sure. 1st is red planet, 2nd is Borealis(sp?), and third is unknown. Pics aren't perfect....I know They were taken standing on a salt bucket, top down through a look down box using the automatic setting on my D40 with 120mm macro lens.

The Borealis hasn't grown hardly at all since I've had it(4-5 mon) but the other two, and most of my other SPS, is growing well fast since dosing Mag and Calcium, and my colors have improved since dosing MB7 for the last two weeks.

Every time I see a red planet it really makes me want one. Looks like it's time to get one.

Thanks. My color really came out more when I started to dose MB7 in the last two weeks. From the front of the aquarium, the green is really starting to come out, but looking from the top, its just as gorgeous as the pic above. I'm actually pretty happy my camera brought out the true color.

Nice. I just got my first ORA sps, well not including my Scripps milli that is all brown. Second looks like a Borealis to me the tips just have not gone blue, looks like they are starting to. I dont know about the third. My ORA list Scripps mill, Hawkins echinata, ORA Blue Bottle Brush, ORA Miami Orchid, ORA Tenuis. I love ORA corals and want more. I wanted a Red Planet but they did not have one, sold it a few days before. What dose the MB7 do for the sps? I am getting my colors back by stability and keeping it simple.

I'm still on the first two weeks, so I'm adhering to the 5ml/25gal right now until Wednesday. Then I'll move to the 5ml/50gal per the label on the jug. I did my first dose of vodka tonight, 0.3ml, so I'm going to continue down that path unless I start to see problems.

I got great growth increase by dosing Mag and Cal, and then better color by dosing MB7. I'm hoping that the vodka increases both

The first one is a ORA Red Planet. The second one is ORA Borealis.

Really, most I've seen are red polyps, but the base is what changes on most people from what I've seen on here. Depending on the light, the base can be red or green, and higher lighting will be an all red coral with white tips. I love the contrast between the green/red on it.

Thanks A agree that not everyone has the same experience with certain things, and I'm very aware of what my tank is doing, so I'll be watching it very closely. I can't wait to see if I can get results with it

Thanks, its about mid level in my 12" shallow tank under 14k Phoenix. The reflectors are about 16 inches above the water, so its getting a fair amount of light, nothing too bright.

Thanks. I've seen MANY reviews on it, and while it didn't work for you, it might work for me and others. Nothing against you at all, and I appreciate the heads up. Trust me in saying that I've done a lot of reading on this, and will be taking it slowly and watching things carefully.

Just saying be cautious with vodka it is not for every one. I know it works, I have seen it.

How long does it usually take to start seeing any effects of vodka dosing? I've dosed 0.3ml for day 1 and 2, today will be day 3. I'm not expecting results yet, but just curious.

took me about 6-7 weeks to see results from the vodka. Ive been dosing it now for about 4-5 months or so and i couldnt be happier.My tank is CRYSTAL clear and both phosphates and nitrates are at 0. I do add amino acids 2-3 times a week now and my ORA borealis is now a weird light lime green color but thats the only coral that has reacted weird so far.Heres a pic from when i first got my red planet its my new favorite coral wish i had a better pic !I love the fluffly red polyps on yours as well!!

I was thinking that third one was "Joe the Coral"? They sure do look nice.
