A pic of a marine betta? How did you get him out from under the rock in the daytime? Mine won't even come out for food!

The longspine urchin in the background is a dead giveaway that it's not my tank.

no way, that pic looks nothing like larry. how insulting!
(note to larry- give dusty 15% DISCOUNT on anything he picks up) lol

Tom

My Marine Betta comes out allot more since I went from MH to VHO in the 125. They definitely dont like bright light of any kind.

Nice try Dusty. ;)

Dusty, you suck up. I would agreew ith Sammie, but Larry has a fish trap I want to see again someday. So I cant agree at this time.

OK as most of you will not believe, but this is not my tank. I went to the Shed aquarium in Chicago on Thursday and it's been several years since I've been there but this place is amazing. The reef settups they have are outstanding. They basically have a whole floor dedicated to the reefs around the Philippines. I have been to numerous publin aquariums including Boston. Tampa, Clearwater, San Diego, Miami, Hawaii and even Columbus but none of these hold a candle, as far as reef tanks go, to Chicago.
In one tank I even found a pair of Clarkii clowns spawning on the side of the tank. They have SPS frags glued to the side of several tanks growing out and most of their tanks were mixed with SPS, LPS, and sofites as you can see in some of the pictures. The specimens in the pictures are huge but you cannot tell, for example that clam is about 3-4 FEET long. The anenome is about 1 foot across and that Monti Cap is probably 2 feet across.

I've got more if anyone is interested.

Can't be Larry's tank...too much SPS...has to be a big tank, but I can't place it...must be someone's I haven't seen. Also, I can't think of anyone with a 3 foot long clam. Possibly a zoo tank?

3ft clam... I think some of our members may have like 12-15" clams, but not 36"... I would say a public Aquarium / Zoo...

Hey Larry,

Mine is in a 65 (tall 55) with two 40 watt NOs (white and blue) and he still won't come out.

Very creepy fish. I've probably had him in there for 4-5 years.

A store owner in Ft. Wayne told me a story about finding one of these guys in a liverock holding tank that wasn't fed or maintained for months. He said that he was tearing the tank down in his basement and found the fish while he was siphoning out the water.

Mine ate a dam(n)sel once. It made the wife mad but I thought it was kind of cool.

The betta in the picture was out in the open and hovering close to the glass in a big tank with MH lighting. He never went in the rock even with me taking pictures and other people acting like they do at public aquariums. Maby thats the secret, he's used to the activity in front of his tank.

Hey Tom: Joe the pizza man has a couple of blue damsels you could use for "food". He'd love to get rid of them, keeps telling me he's giving them to me but no thanks.

sammie man you have been around!! must be nice to have a job that takes you near all those aquariums :)

nice pics, post more if you have a chance!
