A few tank shots

Well at the request of some members here, I've finally gotten out the camera for some shots. I want to thank all the members here who have supplied me with advice and frags. Most notably RandyO, chrisguy, and cpage3. What I have now wouldn't have been possible without you guys, so thanks. Anyway, on with the show.

First off a current full tank shot. You may notice my hommeade overflow. Were I to do it all over again, I would have had the tank drilled, but such is life.:

One of the corals you may notice right away is the nice big Yellow leather front and center. Actually its a double leather from aquatech (thanks randy) and doing great so far.

You might also notice front and center my nice open brain. Another aquatech purchase. The shot is a little old back when I was having real cyano problems.

Also in there are my pair of tank raised ocellaris clownfish. Little guys havent hosted anything yet and until this week had the tank all to themselves :)

Here's a shot of my lettuce nudi and red-footed turbo.

You all may recognize the mushroom rock here as the one chrisguy just had up for sale. Found a new home in my tank :):

Then, here we've got a few offerings from cpage3. Some Zoos, Palythoas, Xenia and a nice little acro frag:

Also a small Hammer frag again courtesy of the good boys at aquatech. Now that its acclimated I'll be trying him in my right corner just in case he decides to get frisky with any stinging tentacles (the glass wont mind ;)):

And last but not least, my newest fish which I believe Randy had labeled "McCaskill Fairy Wrasse" over at aquatech. The picture doesn't really do him justice cause hes GORGEOUS. He straight up glows under the lights, its fantastic.

Anyway, thats what I've got so far. I'm a total nub and have a long ways left to go and even more to learn about this hobby, but man is it fun. Its only 3 months old, but doing well so far. Ultimately I think it'll be a mostly LPS tank with just a few softies and maybe an SPS here or there. Just my tastes I suppose :). Anyway, thanks for looking and thanks to everyone whose helped even with just advice. You guys rock :)

The only thing that has me concerned is the tight rock stack- it looks like there's no room for water flow in, around and behind the rockwork... making the back bottom corner of the aquarium a place that detritus can accumulate over time. Other than that, everything looks very good. :)

I agree with Gary. I did something similar in my first 75 gallon. After a little over a year I started having major problems due to the areas I couldnt clean out. This time I made sure I left 2 or 3 inches all around my stack and stacked with plenty of space between rock.

I also got one of those Yellow leathers. Really nice color in it. It will extend its polpys much further than your pic shows when it gets a little happier. Here is mine after a week.

Anyone know if those are more light demanding since it has such a vibrant color? I found one reference that says yes and another that said its still a lower light level coral.

And sorry, I didn't mean to hijack this thread.

Looks like a great start!! Man I love the color of that Yellow Leather. I need to get me a frag of that.

Thanks for all the compliments, means a lot coming from the pros :). As for the leather, that was a shot taken literally hours after introduction. Its since extended its polyps a lot like ashman's pic. And technically I have two of them :)

As for the rocks, I see what you guys mean, but ironcially the way I have my powerheads setup the back corners get the most flow. Theres a powerhead in each corner there (MJ 1200). Kind of a pain to service, but pleasing to the eye and providing some good flow.

I love the open brain. Your stack looks good too, I might suggest moving one or bothof the yellow leathers to the left might improve the composition my only gripe is that right now they seem to split the tank in two visually this will probably go away as you fill in the tank as well. With them as the strongest visual item in the view it seems to dominate the tank a little too much.

Yeah, I agree with the visual comments dalbrecht. I wanted the yellow leathers as part of the centerpeice of the tank. Hopefully when I keep adding more stuff it wont look as lopsided :).

How about trying to find something tall and reasonably colorful like a sinularia and placing it behind and 4"-8" to the left of the small frag left of the leathers. colorful is a relative term here, you could probably get away with something very pale like a colt under intense lighting as well.
