All of the demand is met by limewater in my system. My tank is not heavy on SPS by any means, however. Lots of coralline and LPS make up most of the demand.

RC also includes vitamins, and those may induce some bacterial growth which many have reported for RC when stored in barrels.

I just tested a new bucket I received from DFS with the "Now with more calcium" label. At 1.026 SG, calcium was at 470, magnesium at 1350, and alkalinity at 12. I am really liking these numbers.

I just purchased my first bucket of D-D H2Ocean and had similar results on alkalinity. Mine measured at 8 dKH as well. For the price, I agree, this was a disapointment. I've tested it with Salifert, Elos and LaMotte so I know it's at 8. You're not alone on this one. The bar code on my bucket is 5 060078 020046.

Broke open a new IO (Reef Crystals) bucket this weekend. Does this sound right?

No complaints, this is a recent batch from DFS.
Didn't post it here but I'm at 1.025 @ 78 degrees Fahrenheit, best I can tell using a recently calibrated Refractometer.Originally posted by Billybeau1
I think you are mixing too lean.
