A little worried......

As some of you saw in my other thread, I just got a (what the dealer called) a W/C perc. clownfish, and well there are a couple things I am a little worried about....
>1. Is eating a VERY small amount of food (3 or 4 mysis shrimps, 3 or 4 brine shrimp, and may be a few pellets)
>2. She has a tiny winy little lump in one of her gills (hard to see)
>3. Her poopies are a little stringy

Whats wrong? Is there anything I can do?

This sounds almost exactly like what my clownfish was doing this last 2 weeks or so, with the exception that my clown was also very shy staying in one corner.

I would just give it time, don't try and over feed if it isn't eating. Keep things stable and wait a little while. From what I've heard about marine velvet is if you can see some thing on the fish like you mentioned, it is usually dead in 24-48 hours. I'm guessing it isn't that, might just be stress from traveling.

I tryed a whole bunch of things for my clown and nothing helped but time. Gave him a few days where I didn't try anything and now he seems very normal.

Good luck, and keep us up to date.

Very small amounts of food is not unusual for new arrivals, but is problematic if they don't pick up the feeding quickly.

Lump in the gills may or may not be something, i.e. parasite, tumor, deformity, etc.

IME, most clowns not eating much have stringy feces, could be an inidcator of internal bugs.

Post some pictures, feed small amounts of it's favorite foods 4-5 times a day, keep an eye out for spots, fraying of fins, slime coatings, etc.

Good luck.

Does not sound like a start to Amyloo to me.

Well, luck for me she has started to eat a lot more and has much more interest in her food. And from what I can see as of now, that lump isn't there any more (probably eyes playing tricks). So I am thinking that it is shipping stress. In fact, I am almost sure; she went from water that was 1.019 to 1.026 (drip acclimated). But she is looking like she has a lot more pep in her now, so I am not so worried.
