a miracle delivery... need advice

wow guys , thanks and im sorry if i have misdirected you solRNY. i thought that it looked as though it would need a foam underlayment . i really dont think it would hurt but definatly check with the maker as he or she knows best .

Here's Derek's response when I asked him the same question:

"Hi John
We use 5/8" white foam for packaging that we use on installations, we prefer that this is used between your plywood and the aquarium bottom. The bottom trim comes up 1-1/8", it is just over 1/16" in thickness and will compress into the foam.
Thank you,
Derek"

thanks for the info Haffs09, do i put the foam under the bottom trim outline only or the entire 4x4 sqaure? probably the latter.

getting my overlay hinges in tomorrow, cant wait to intall the panels (doors) :)

here an update of the stand frame, the overlay hinges did not work out as the panels overlay part is too wide, i would have to cut down the panel by 1" or notch out part of the support frame of which niether is going to happen, end up using some latches from lowes, not very ideal...

next step is to buy the smaller items:

bulk head: slip/slip or slip/thread? what worries me is the thread part, will it eventually leak?

loc-lines: do i really need the crimper?

glass cleaner: whats is more safe for starphire glass?

big heaters: 2x500w?

TIA

Lang, I've heard good things about finnex heaters:

http://www.championlighting.com/home.php?cat=743

they come in higher wattages, titanium so no worries about broken glass. You might not need as much heat as you think. Lighting and pumps do a lot for you. But remember, have at least 2 in case one breaks. That way your temp won't plummet.

I've never used a crimper for loc-line. Not saying it's easy, but it can be done.

Your call on the bulkheads. I'd say with the commitment you've made with this tank, it's gonna be around a while. Personally, i'd use slip and plumb directly to PVC. But that's just me.

Stand looks amazing. Very unique my friend!

do that doors open ,or the whole side lift off? it looks very asteticly correct ,cant wait to see it with the tank on top . nice job and keep it up !

hi mark, thanks for the advice, i think i am gonna go with 2x500w finnex, 8amps!! might need nother circuit, 1 set a tad lower, i like how it can adjusted out of the water and it only has one cable unlike others i seen with multi-cables and probably gonna go with slip/slip bulkheads

hi dave, thanks for the nice comments, the panels dont open, i had order these overlay hinges,

but the panels are too big for them to work properly, so for now all the side panels are removable

Wow very nice Lang! That is a beautiful stand and tank
thanks nate!

Do you know what the lead time is on a Miracles tank? I am in CA and was wondering how long it would take to build one and ship it to CA. Thanks.

Hey Maximus. :)

What's wrong with Lee Mar?

The usual lead time is 4-6 weeks for non tempered tanks, 6-8 weeks for tempered. But it depends. I've had them build me tanks in a couple weeks.

big heaters: 2x500w?

If you go the 3/4 inch route with loc line I got a crimper you can borrow.

For heaters, I purchased a couple Finnex digital heaters, the smaller ones with build in temp control. They are ok, the problem is that after power loss they revert to 81 with a +/- 2 accuracy, so you need to check them if you unplug them. Also I needed a 200 and 300 for my 92 gallon tank, and it is a pain to get them to be set the same, my 300 will constantly kick on and off and the 200 only comes on with a big temp change. If I had to do it again, I would look at the larger finnex with a single temp control, and back up temp control with a aquarium controller.

Hi Randy! How are you doing? Leemar said it would take 1.5-2 months to build my tank. Not sure why it takes so long considering that I would pick it up at their manufacturing site. The point might be moot anyways as I just got a quote from Derek and it is 50% more from them. I don't blame them as shipping to CA is really expensive. Oh well, at least I tried!

for me its pretty much what randy is saying, the 3x3x2 tank took ~1wk (i rushed it) to build, the 4x4x2 tank is going on >4 weeks...

i am hoping i dont need the crimper, guess i will find out, thanks for the offer :)

interesting how the heater does not store current setting, that can be an issue, we have LOTS of outage here in brewerton, i come home sometimes and the clocks are blinking, tank still running fine,

told me 3 weeks for a 120 rimless. and finnex heaters suck. I would not buy them Had two crap out on me in a month....:(
i have a sleath-visitherm i use for water changes, set it to 79 and measured it to heat up to 84, seem like these type of heater are lacking current technology and quality...

a little update, not much has been happening as i am trying to figure out all the hardware needed, thanks to aaron for the tip, i got what i wanted from SFP; 4 sheet of 5'x5', way overkill!

my wife and i are still deciding which to go with, the left or right picture, before we cut it down. what do you guys/gals think?
