a miracle delivery... need advice

heres a sneak peak to the remaining pieces of the lighting setup :D

hmmm, think ur right, especially when things are all wet and cramped, the simple task can become difficult... added that i need a step stool to reach the bottom... really not sure yet :)

heres an update to the remaining parts of the lighting setup,

these are Ecoxotic Cannon LED Pendant 455nm Blue 100 watt Elliptical,
mounting brackets are made up of these two LARGE pieces, when combined they are almost bigger than the pendant itself, not liking this bracket design,

another view, the heatsink looks pretty kewl and symetric, was surprised it can stand vertical, lets hope they move some heat :D

here are some more closer pics,
think it would much cleaner if they were to not show the bigger outer screws, something like a elliptical cap...

here some even closer pics,

here a pic of the led itself, i think there made up of 100 1w leds, not the most efficient led setup, but having a smaller pendant helps alot for our build :)

here a pic of the back side, not sure whats the cavity for but i got a hint its for some internal ballast,

here a pic of the ballast, these are real flexible as they will take 3 types of dimmable functions inputs: 0v-10v, pwm, and resistance.

and finally the last piece to make this whole lighting setup work :bounce2:
am learning how to program the apex, little more difficult than i thought :)

hopefully well finish up everything upstairs soon :)

so i was messing around with the apex controller all day yesterday and finally learned how to turn on these leds,
i have to say, the apex controller is pretty nice that i can remote program it while on my couch :)

i am noticing serveral issues:

1. with the the HLG-100-36B drivers connected to the vdm 1 & 2 output with
setting 0, measured ~.6V not 0v. with setting 100 the output voltage 10.9v not 10v.

2. i believe the HLG-100-36B are constant current drivers, so with the same dimming output voltage measured from the vdm 1 & 2, it looks like both the led output different intensity, that the one was noticable lower. thinking i have some bad leds, so i swapped the leds from the driver and noticed that the other led now is noticable lower,

i believe the way constant current driver works is that for a given setting it will output that current consistantly therefore the output intensity remains constant from led to led, where the voltage drop across the led can differ.

becuase for some reason i can not measure the output current of the driver i instead measured the voltage, for led1=30v and led2=31v, swapped leds from the drivers then measured again for voltage, now led1=31v and led2=30v, seems like these leds are well matched becuas they exhibit the same votage when swapped, which leads me to believe the HLG-100-36B drivers are outputting two different current for the same setting,

if i am wrong at this please let me know ;)
was wondering if there is a pot inside the driver to adjust?

3. a quick thought... i dont believe this drivers are capable of driving 100w into the leds becuase when using a watt meter on the AC input it measured 95w with the dimming input "open", which will output max current. so with 95w input, and some loss, the output to the led has to be less...

i am sure i need be more educated, please let me know what you guys/gals think, but really, i am happy with the way the lighting setup is going :)

too bad the plasmas light output are some what yellow, but i am liking the combination at the moment :)

a few steps closer to having water in the tank, yay!!

Great updates... considering that both those Ecoxotic Pendants and the Plasma fixtures are both very new to the aquarium industry, it'll be great to hear about your thoughts on them and how well they sustain the corals long-term.

Your build has been a long process in the making, but with all of the time and dedication will come an amazing work of art. :D
