A new start...

Here is the current sink location. I will be removing this for space reasons and because its a small sink and installing one of those big laundry type sinks.

Here is the bar coming down.

FYI, a lot of the stuff you see is actually my wife's grandfathers stuff. He passed away a few months ago and due to some probate issues, we just got all of the stuff and put it in our partial basement until we can find a better place for everything. For the time being, I am going to move it all to a location in the basement, out of sight.

Okay, my 58 is officially up for sale so I am going bigger!

My new tank will be a 125g 60"x24"x20" in wall with the following:
50 Gal. Rubbermaid Stock Tank as the fuge - 52"x31"x12"
100 Gal. Rubbermaid Stock Tank as the sump - 52"x31"x25"
Deltec APF600 Skimmer
Precision Marine CR622 Calcium reactor
Dart or Hammerhead on closed loop with OceansMotions 4 Way

Haven't decided on the main return pump.

Thanks,
Mike

Got my reactor today! Like I said, hoping to get the front bar tore down tonight...will get more pics of the progress.

I need to go to Home Depot and get an A/C unit, some lumber and new flooring...:D

Mike

Oh yeah and gotta move my dual 20 amp dedicated circuits from the main part of the living room where the fish tank is now to the new location...

Mike

Well I didn't get anything done with the new tank last night...

However, the rock is now being cooked!:bum:

Mike

I like mine medium rare... Still taggin along. BTW, not really too far from you, Lake City. Wish it was closer, I just moved about three months ago, and left my reefin' buddy... Of course it can be a little less expensive without your neighbor being a former emplyee of the Aquarium of the Americas! If ya happen to stumble on this... miss ya Jim.

lol...

I don't have any reefin' buddies around me. I mean, I am sure they are out there but I have been kind of a lone ranger for a while now. However, I did meet a really nice guy last night that live like 20 mins from me. He is currently holding my fish and corals and his tank is sweet.

Mike

Noticed you didn't waste any time updating your tag line/current tank info. You gotta feel like a Kid a Christmas! (cept you gotta pay for it all...)

Another change. :D I think I might just bite the bullet and buy an acrylic tank from another company. The other would include a black background, black overflow, dual 1.5" drains, dual 3/4" returns and it is actually 150 gallons...60"x24"x24".

The other one I was gonna get is only like $100 cheaper by the time I get the overflow for it and install it, drill the overflow and install bulkheads. Plus the one I was gonna get was all clear so I would have to paint the back and I really don't trust my acrylic glueing abilities for the overflow.

Mike

Here is the pics of the rock cooking! No light, a small skimmer and a heater.

And finally, my reactor, ARM media, guages and my trashcans. Some of the aluminum for the light rack is in the cans.

Thanks,

So I didn't get anything done last night but I expect that I will get the whole bar down this weekend. But I am thinking the rest shouldn't be too hard.

I will head to Home Depot this weekend, time willing and pick up my sink and new flooring.

Mike

Well I lost my job yesterday so there won't be a tank upgrade. I will just be putting the 58 in the wall and I will just make the filtration for it SUPER! I still plan to use a 100g sump and a 50g tank for a fuge. I plan to get some used Tunzes, if I can find the right deal and I might have.

So the plans are:

58g RR Oceanic with both holes used as drain lines.
Not sure of the return pump
Dual Tunze 6000's or 6100's
Deltec APF600 skimmer
Precision Marine CR622 Calcium Reactor
20lb CO2 Tank
ARM Media
36" Light rack
- Dual 95W VHO Actinics
- Dual 250W 10K XM's
100g Sump
50g Fuge
AquaMedic Top-Off
Starboard

RO/DI station with salt water mixing area
75gpd RO/DI unit by Aquatic Reef Systems
Sink in fish room
Dual 20A circuits

Wish I could go bigger but with this, I only need to buy a few things and I will be ready to go. With a larger tank comes more electricity, more heat and so on.

Mike

So the new tank is back on!!!! I also just talked with the wife and I was hiding the idea that I had but figured I better tell her. She was actually excited to see my idea.

So I will be picking up a 150g 60"x24"x24" acrylic reef tank with a center overflow.

Not sure of the return pump
Closed loop pump (not sure which)
Oceans Motions 4 Way
Deltec APF600 skimmer
Precision Marine CR622 Calcium Reactor
20lb CO2 Tank
ARM Media
60" Light rack
- Dual 5' VHO Actinics
- Dual 250W 10K XM's
100g Sump
50g Fuge
AquaMedic Top-Off

RO/DI station with salt water mixing area
75gpd RO/DI unit by Aquatic Reef Systems
Sink in fish room
Dual 20A circuits

The bar is down!!! So now I have to pull up the flooring and replace it. But tomorrow I leave for vacation so building will stop until Monday when I get back.

Thanks,
Mike

If I may recommend just one little thing. PLEASE GO RETURN THOSE TRASH CANS!!!! You need to get the Brute can from Home Depot /Lowes!!! I had that same can and after 4 months it cracked at the bottom. Please Please Please go get a Brute. Otherwise, everything looks awesome. I am in the staffing business, I can not help you with sourcing a position but I could review your resume if you think it may need some sound advise.....

Tank has been ordered!!!! I plan to get started with the wall this week. I am going to try to run to Tractor Supply and pick up my sump and fuge.

I could have sworn those were Brutes...maybe I read the writing on the side wrong. Eitherway, will do.

Mike

Just called the company to confirm and the tank should be shipping Thurs or Friday of this week so I gotta hussle!

Also, the overflow is in the center back so I can run a wavebox. The overflow has two 1.5" drains and two 3/4" returns. The back right center of the overflow box will be drilled for a 1.5" bulkhead for the closedloop.

Mike

Just curious if you have anything to remove the moisture our of the air. Since that looks like it may be a basement I would be worried about evaporation and mold.

Hope this helps

Rick
