A pair of bangaii cardinals?

If I get a pair is it pretty much guaranteed that they will reproduce? I want a pair, but not any extras or the experience of my wife and kids watching them come out of his mouth just to get chopped up in a powerhead, or whatever happens to them.

Just to let you know, they apparently chirp. The sound is noticeable from outside the tank.

I have one and some pajamas to keep her company. That was what was recommended to me. I guess they will often fight with their own kind but like other cardinals. She kinda rules the roost and does chirp.

Even if you get offspring, they wont be buzzing around the tank getting sucked into the power heads. They are released by the presets developed enough to swim and hide among the rocks (if you have long spine urchin, they will hide among its spines, or even anemones).

They will most likely be hunted down by other fish tough, so it is highly unlikely any will reach adulthood. If you have a sump, sometimes fry can end up there and can develop. But even this is extremely rare.

You would have to monior them and have a special breeding tank setup for them as well. Don't forget you would have to catch or trap them for transportation to said tank... Oh! The fry will need special food too. Definitely a lot of planning and work to pull it off.

Nailed it! Basically the free food scenario is what happens when most of our critters spawn. I assume it happens much more often than we even notice, more so with inverts like snails.

It's DIY!

Ingredients:
1. JB Weld - Same stuff used to mount frags
https://www.jbweld.com/collections/epoxy-putty-sticks/products/waterweld-epoxy-putty
2. Black Zip Ties various sizes/lengths
3. Artistic aptitude

Cut the square end off the zip ties and make them various lengths. I used both small for the shorter spines and medium size for the longer/thicker spines.
Mix up a golf ball size of epoxy, rolling in your hand like making a meat ball.
Then flatten the bottom and form a dome on a non-stick surface. The white piece you see under my creation is a piece of HDPE (White cutting board).
Stick the zip ties in randomly with the pointed end out to resemble an urchin.
Let harden ~30 minutes or so.
I did it so I'm sure anyone can!

That is a cool apparatus. Very innovative. I appreciate the feedback. There's a pair on DD I was looking at, but I'm going to wait until I get further stocked up before I get a pair of them.

Wow, according to Wikipedia these guys are just about an endangered species? They haven't even been around that long.
