I have simplified my tank a little. I got rid of my calcium reactor and just use my kalk reactor again. My tank is doing the same if not better without the reactor and there is so much less equipment on my tank now. I also removed my seperate feed pump to my external Geo skimmer and teed off the main return line , which was too powerfull to send all the water back to the tank anyway. Now My tank has no submerged pumps in the sump, and only two pumps the main return pump and the closed look. Less pumps for me to have to decalcify . The skimmer has worked great from day one, but I think it is even working better now. I need to get more pics if I ever get the time.

Hi Tony, I am setting up a 75g Megaflow tank and I like the Idea to do not use powerheads pump like you do in your beautiful tank.
I am thinking to use a Mag 9.5 pump.(I have not space for an external pump).
Where did you locate each sea swirls to have flow everywhere?
Did you install it with some vertical angle?
I have herd that is important to have flow at bottom of the tank.
Thank you.

When I first set up my tank I tried a mag 9.5, I could not take the noise it made.
I have each swirl at each end on the back , The outlets are pointed downward very slightly , it does not take much downward angle to get the flow down to the bottom. Actually even just angled downward slightly moves the sand . I had to switch from 1/2" sea swirls to 3/4" ss so there would not be as much velocity.

Thank you very much.
Now I have a really good idea of how to do it.
Tony, I have a doubt now.
Do you have only a T4 return pump with two 3/4 sea swirls, or you have and additional pump with a closed loop system?
Thank you.

I recently entered rehab due to the lack of pictures on this thread. I went through major withdrawal, but I think I'm doing pretty good now. I finished the 12-step program and my life is together again.

I need to get more pics . I recently upgraded my camera from a D100 to a D80 and now I need a new computer to process the D80 pics. Plus for the last few months I have been building a 5000 g Koi pond.

I have two pumps the main return Iwaki Return pump and the T4 that I use on the closed loop. The closed loop is what the two ss are on.

I injured my most favorit fish today. My Naso . I was cleaning the edges of the front glass today and she was in the corner . I did not think anyhting of it. But when she went to swim from my hand she swam right into the RBTA, and quickly backed up. Her side is all marked up from getting stung. She has her fin clamped down on that side. I cant wait to get home and see how she is.

Thank you Tony.
I am going to copy your successful closed loop system.

I hope when you get home your favorite fish is in good shape.

Thanks everyone.
Mybe tomorow I can take new pics, but I cannot ost them tillI get new computer next week.
My Naso was fine when i got home.
banba63 if you have any more questions let me know.

Hi Tony,
Where and how did you install the in take of the closed loop system? Do you have any picture of it?
Thank you.

Hard to get a good pic of the intake. Here is an old pic, this is the right side of the top , also showing the other ss. You can see the clear pvc in the corner, that is the intake. It goes over the top of the back of tank then straight down to the T4 pump.

Thanks a lot Tony, This is a really good picture of what I need to see.
How deep did you go into the water with the intake? (Just thinking how to make it look better)
Thank you.

I did not go very far down, jut far enough so there is no wt for air to get in. I used a strainer that is aout 3" long.
Here is a pic from earlier in this thread. You can see the strainer in the top right, so you can see how deep it goes. The strainer I used is clear to make it less noticeable but it gets covered and blends in anyway.

Wow, This picture is awesome, you really are getting paid back all the work and dedication behind the scenes.
Tony, did you paint black the back of the tank?
Thank you.
