A really stupid question

I'm having a dispute. I say that when dosing something such as Cycle, you're supposed to dose the actual number of gallons in the tank and sump. My challenger believes the dose is for the size of the tank.

Who wins? (ultimately, the fish do!)

Yes total water volume, but do take into account of rock displacement.

Are you using the Cycle from Hagen? If so dump the whole thing in . Says in the instructions that you canââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t over dose. I put the recommended amount in my FW tank and waited a week and didnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t seem to help so i just dumped the rest in and it made a huge difference. Anyways donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t act on what Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m saying a am a newbie after all . Just thought i would share what I did.
