A Reef in The Woods (Video)

Nice vid Ethan!

Great video - Vivid colors

Any chance for an FTS so we can see the full beauty ?

Roiy

Wow its an awesome video. Great colours. Would love to see a full tank video shoot as well.

Nice video and would agree we need a FTS video/still:)

Thank you everyone for your kind words and interest about my tank. Many of you have requested for a FTS. This is the best I can do for the time being. Sorry for the DOF blur, I have a 50 mm prime lens on the camera at the time.

LOL. Is this how you justify the money spent to the wife? It serves as a baby sitter/entertainer!

Great looking FTS. So ready for my SPS dominant tank to grow out!

I´m stupid xD

Canon 7D!!!

;) Thank you Berlin-riff and glad you have figured out.

Yes, if all else fail "Honey, But the kids..." help with the persuasion. :lolspin:

Beautiful tank! Thanks for sharing with us!!
Thank you bfam4t6, it's not easy to have the coral grew to this size. I have been dealing with all types of issues concerning SPS. especially STN and hight nutrient level.

This is my first time going with all T5 lights and LEDs. comparing to my previous 50Gs tank, that have 400 watt MH and T5, I like the look and growth of the MH more. however, I do having to deal with the heat and hight energy. my next build will be MH plus T5 lights.

Thanks for the FTS - Great tank.
Clearest water and colors are beautiful

The Little ones are defiantly looking enjoying their time :fish1:

very sharp and crisp video. What you use to capture it?

Thank you, I use the Canon 7D and Pinnacle Studio Ultimate for video editing.

Here are some pics of my gears:

Thank you for checking back. Yes my boys love to look at the fishes, but trying to keep their hands off the sump is a nightmare.

Some pics

Some of you have requested still photo. I don't have much of the current one so I took a snap of some tank fishes.
I call this one: "Window friend" from (Anne of Green Gables)

I bet you had to clean the glass again to take those nice pics to go along with that nice video :p

ps- loving the weather change btw, I was getting sick of the 90 degree stuff. :)

You are like me in a way! Trying to have a goegeous tank and being mr. electronic.
As everyone has said, great video and your colors are anmazing!

I am in my 5 wk of running EB from WM and I am loving the results so far!

Also your camera has a way of doing a white balance while in video mode? If not how did you do it?

Thank you for checking back. I believe that was an Indian summer heats that we had. The weather should be cooler from here on. Although, I think this weekend is going to be in the 80s.
I was really surprised that my tank's temp stay ~ 80-81 F, even though is was almost 90 F inside the house.

That's a great FTS and some amaIng growth given the amount of time it looks you've had the tank going.

Thank you Dustin. When I looked at it almost daily, it dose not feel or look like corals are growing at all but when I compare pictures taken a year ago, than I can see that it's really getting larger.

-Thank you jsdancer, my wife always said I have too many hobbies and they all are expansive!

-I got my Ecobak today from (Premium Aquatics) and will install it sometime this week (hopefully). I will take some picture of the progress and outcomes.

-with the Canon 7D, you can adjust the white balance while in video mode, but not while it's recording. This is the same with shooting still.

IMO, This is one of the main reasons I use DSLR for an aquarium video. I also have a Prosumer Sony HD camcorder that also have some options for white balance and manual controls, but because of its limited small sensor size and fixed lens, most consumer level camcorders just can't produce the right white balance and colors of the aquarium. Having said that, there will most likely going to be new lines of camcorders that will fill this niches. ;)

That 24-70 is a great lens. It's on my camera 95% of the time. I also like to use my 70-200 with a teleconverter and a macro tube to get the really great tight shots.[/QUOTE

Hi Paco, I have head much about the new 70-200 mm lens. It's on my "wish list" :fun4:
- I would love to see your teleconverter with the macro tube pics if you have them.
