It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that LeRoy Headlee from GARF passed away early this Memorial Day morning. He was truly one of the pioneers of the reef hobby. He will be missed.

Thanks,

Scott Morell

Did not know he was ill; our condolences to Sally Jo and the rest of the GARF family. LR was a legend and a genuine person who will b greatly missed.

When I first came across the GARF website, I saw the mention of LeRoy. I am sure the reefkeeping community will miss him. :(

I talked to him a few weeks back and he stated he was doing better since his stroke a while back.
LeRoy has done a lot for the hobby over the years.
He will truly be missed.
My condolences go out to Sally Jo and the rest of the GARF family.

Awe, Mister LeRoy. He was a very nice guy and a true reef enthusiast. I send my condolences to Sally Jo and the rest of the Garf Family. He will be missed. :(

A lady here where I work introduced me to reef keeping and GARF, very sad to hear. I hope GARF continues its fine work!

sorry to hear of this loss I love the grunge they sell! He will be missed, I was going to call him tomorrow and order some grunge for me sump! Best pods around!

So sorry to hear this news! I first met LeRoy when I was 14, in 1998. He was an inspiration!

A man who kept Acropora in his home aquarium back when everyone insisted it was impossible, and took razor blades (to the horror of his audience) the the rare and nearly impossible to grow (in the mid 90's) pulsating Xenia-- so that he could share frags with his friends.

Thanks for teaching us that its okay to cut coral, LeRoy!

I had spoken with LeRoy a number of times over the past ten years. He was always pationate about our hobby and a real joy to speak with. He will be missed.
